Week Ahead – Monday, October 1st through Sunday, October 7th

Happy Sunday everyone! Well, its the last day of September and it sure seems to have gone fast. We are entering my favourite month of the year now. I love October when Autumn is getting into full swing, Halloween/Samhain is around the corner, and the wonderful smells that come with the Autumnul weather, like wood-burning stoves, home cooked stews, and baked goods. It warms the heart on chilly days. Today we are under the influence of a Gemini Moon, so its a good day for communicating, sharing ideas, fact gathering, or just letting your curiosity lead you somewhere new and interesting. Now, let’s see what this first week of October has in store for us!
Our Monday starts out with us still being under that Gemini energy until the evening, when it moves into the calmer sign of Cancer. Quite often, when the Moon is in Cancer, we all become homebodies. We want to retreat to the place we feel most at home. This can bring out a sense of “homesickness” if we’re far from home, or estranged from others. It may be a time, then of reaching out to those that know us best.  This Moon makes us quick to tear up and have sentimental moments. But it’s about being enriched by close ties, and the safety of home, too.  It’s not necessarily mellow, but there’s a sense of wanting to be enclosed, private, in familiar environs.
Tuesday brings us a square between Mercury and Pluto. Square aspects usually bring challenges or obstacles that we need to overcome. Mercury Square Pluto is no exception here and we need to be cautious with this transit with an impulsive and obsessive interaction between quick to speak Mercury and burn your bridges, Pluto. This is a time when our minds are more suspicious and perhaps negative. Some of us may experience some level of mental stress and pressure. We will need to avoid the tendency to read between the lines with a negative slant, as it is bound to only stir up trouble. It’s a transit where we feel that need to be heard and there is that danger of us pushing our beliefs and opinions on others, and vice versa. Showing a bit of restraint in our desires to persuade others is necessary or we could come across as a bit over eager and defeat our own cause. Also, watch out for dramatic outbursts and events, both personally and globally.
Our Wednesday morning begins with a Void of Course Moon that stays with us until the late evening, when it then moves into heart opening Leo. A Leo Moon can bring a cheery vibe, making it easier to be lifted out of the doldrums. Its a good time for presentations, celebrations and social events. You might want to leave the day open, and let your spontaneous mischievous child inside lead the way. Thursday is a quiet one in the skies for us, but we still have that Leo energy to play around with.
Today the Moon will go Void of Course just after Noon. Its also the day the Venus starts her retrograde cycle. For a week or more before and after this date, we may experience some intense energy in the areas of relationships, finances, beauty, self-worth and harmony. It’s somewhat like Mercury going retrograde, where we go over ground we have already covered to tweak, polish, refine and adjust those areas being affected in our lives. Venus will be in retrograde until November 15th, and it can be a time when underlying issues in relationships of all kinds can turn into conflicts. In other cases, some ongoing conflicts could settle down or take a step back. It’s a time when we all regroup and reassess our value system and what is important to us. Where material and financial issues are concerned, we may see a shift where either resources and income become a bit scarce and force us to rethink our material focus, or resources are suddenly plentiful.
Just after midnight on Saturday morning the Moon enters practical Virgo. So this weekend will be focused on doing those practical activities. We want to set things right and we may easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. This makes it a good time for doing routine work that requires precision, concentration on detail and hard work. Health matters can also come into focus now. In this mutable earth sign of Virgo, the mood is geared toward busy productivity and adjusting with minor tweaks here and there. It favours clearing, refining, purging, detoxing and organizing. It also favours launching self-improvement schemes. This Virgo energy will remain with us until Sunday afternoon when the Moon goes Void of Course.
