Week Ahead – Monday, January 29th through Sunday, February 4th

Happy Sunday everyone. This week ends the first month of 2018 and begins the next month. February will be bringing us a Solar Eclipse in Aquarius that is the exact opposite of where last August’s Solar Eclipse took place. If you have felt somewhat pulled apart since last summer, this could be the Universe trying to give you a fresh perspective on your life. Some choices will come out of this in the months ahead. Today we are under the influence of a Cancer Moon, so many will feel like sticking close to home and enjoying the peace of being around loved ones. Let’s see what the week ahead has in store for us!

Monday begins under the influence of a feeling oriented Cancer Moon, which is associated with family, food, and nutrition. So look to activities along those lines for the next couple of days. We also have an opposition between Venus and the North Lunar Node happening now. This is a good time to let go of the “things” you don’t need anymore. It’s a time to release your creativity and transform them into new resources and assets. This could mean cleaning out your closets and selling the discards in a yard sale, for example. You might decide to change your hairstyle or something else about your appearance. Have some fun with it!

Tuesday begins with a Void of Course Moon that will then shift into heart opening Leo in the later part of the afternoon. Leo is where we feel more energetic and optimistic. We feel like we can do anything! We crave compliments and appreciation and are generous with kind words to others. This is also a flirty Moon, and you get away with it because it’s all for fun. The Leo lunar vibe brings out the cocky bravado in men and the diva in women. You might spend more time with the mane and dress, in anticipation of being seen. It’s a Moon to revel in being admired and taking pride in appearance. We also get some sparky inspiration in the air with a Leo Moon, and we may encourage each other to shine more brightly. Go ahead and hold the stage. Tell a story and make it dramatic. Make some children laugh by being a clown. Tap into your inner thespian, and make all the world your stage!

Wednesday is our Leo Full Moon and it’s a powerful one because it’s also a Lunar Eclipse, Blue Moon, and a Super Moon. We will need to keep an eye on our emotions now because they can be more activated than usual. Now, last August we had another Lunar Eclipse that was nearly opposite to what we have today. Look over the past 6 months to see if you have been feeling pulled apart in many areas of your life. These are the areas where we need to gain some fresh perspective and make choices in order for us to re-integrate ourselves into a better whole. Leo wants us to open our hearts more and express our passions and creativity. It also pushes us to take a leadership role in some aspect of our lives. The Sun is in Aquarius now as well, which wants us to step back and look at the bigger picture. Aquarius likes win-win scenarios and urges us to all play nice together for the greater good. We also have Mercury joining the Sun in Aquarius for the next month, which is an excellent energy for reaching out to meet new people, explore organizations or new groups, and considering how we can bring our ideas and inventions into the real world.

Thursday starts with a mid-morning Void of Course Moon that will move into practical Virgo in the early evening. In this mutable earth sign of Virgo, the mood is geared toward busy productivity and adjusting with minor tweaks here and there. It favours clearing, refining, purging, detoxing and organizing. A Virgo Moon always reminds me of Spring cleaning where we de-clutter, make room, open the windows and let the fresh air flow through. On a more mental level, some may crave mentally stimulating puzzles, games and reading to satisfy the active mind. Conversations can be full of everyday analysis of events and people, sometimes critical or fault-finding. For those who have felt overwhelmed by life, now is a time when you can break down those problems into smaller, individual, and more manageable tasks.

Friday is the Pagan celebration of Imbolc, a time to prepare for growth and renewal. It’s symbolic of fertility and ridding of the old, making way for the new. So use this day to look at what needs to be released to make space for the new. We have that Virgo Moon energy to help us with clearing things out now and it can really be a refreshing time that makes you feel like a new start is ahead.

WEEKEND

Saturday starts off with an early morning Voice of Course Moon that will be with us for the entire day and into the later evening. It then moves into balancing Libra, creating a feeling of harmony and calm. We find we more easily connect to people, compromise is more likely and conflict less so. It’s a time when we find it easier to understand and relate to others. We tend to be polite and diplomatic, and would rather avoid arguments. Creating order is also the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We also have a sextile between Mercury and Mars today, a transit where we have the potential to dig down and find the courage needed to speak our minds and stand up for ourselves and what we feel is right. Thoughtful actions will produce positive results and by planning ahead for possible consequences we can minimize any potential conflicts.

Sunday brings us a challenging square between Venus and Jupiter. When the romance planet Venus squares Jupiter, the planet of luck, we tend to want to take pleasure in doing things in a very big way. We become more generous and may spend money on others to make them happy. But there is a need here to set boundaries or we could end up overspending and overdoing it. By all means, let yourself have some fun! But be wary of depleting your resources or wasting time on superficialities-leaving you hungry for something more substantive.
