Week Ahead – Monday, January 22nd through Sunday, January 28th

Happy Sunday everyone! We’re into the last full week of January now and I’m sure many of us are hoping for an early spring. At least we know each day brings us a bit more extra daylight as we slowly make our way out of Winter’s chilly grasp. We have a quiet one in the skies and the start of our week is under the ambitious vibes of an Aries Moon. So, let’s see how this week will play out for us.
Monday starts off with a Void of Course Moon in the wee hours, which will then move into Aries as we rise to start our day. Some may actually feel this shift more than others. An Aries Moon tends to bring conflict more than most times, with emotional tensions growing, people becoming short-tempered and impulsive. Some may show a readiness and fearlessness to act in an extreme situation. Even the sweetest tempered person can become a bit mean under this moon. However, it becomes easier to shake old problem and the weight of tiresome responsibility. We want to free ourselves from everything that bothers us and makes our lives feel uneasy. As we enter this phase of emotional directness and impulsiveness, one marked by forceful and powerful feelings, we tend to gravitate towards emotional beginnings, a fresh start, perhaps the establishment of new habit patterns – so make sure they’re good ones, because they’ll set the tone for you for quite some time to come!
Tuesday is another quiet one, but we can still tap into that Aries energy to get ambitious about any pioneering new projects we have thought about. Wednesday takes the tone down a bit as we begin with a Void of Course Moon that moves into earthy Taurus in the early afternoon. When the Moon moves into Taurus, we feel the tension of the past few days start to drop away. People tend to become calmer and peaceful. We feel secure and stable. There is also this tendency for our thoughts and reactions to slow down, making us feel a bit slow in getting ourselves going. This is the best time for taking care of the home, running errands, restocking supplies and tending to routine maintenance. Its best to hold off on important business now, as well as the signing of contracts or important papers, because we may make mistakes due to a slowed down reaction and thinking process. We also have a conjunction between Mercury and Pluto, both aligning in businesslike Capricorn. It’s a good time for communicating with power, making concrete plans of action, and maybe doing a bit of detective work that needs our mental focus. One word of warning is to try to steer clear of anyone who has obsessive-compulsive, or a controlling nature. They tend to think they know what is best for you at this time.
Thursday brings us a sextile between Mercury and Jupiter, which can give us loads of ideas and the words we need to express them to others. Putting all of those facts, ideas, and thoughts into one cohesive stream becomes much easier and we may also find that we understand the big picture, the overall patterns in life’s everyday situations. Our minds flow with the possibilities before us and we have that sense of optimism needed to bring these ideas into the real world if we apply ourselves and make a bit of effort. It may be a good idea to write down your ideas at this time, especially those that can be further developed at a later time. Now is the time for playing with those ideas and having a bit of fun as we do. This is a favorable influence for short trips, writing, teaching, studying, mailings, interviews, advertising and promotion, submitting applications and forms, and accurate observations.
Friday begins with an early morning Void of Course Moon that moves into mercurial Gemini in the later part of the afternoon. Under Gemini’s influence, our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and share ideas. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle. It is a good time, however, to be on the move, traveling short distances in order to fulfill that need for new impressions, and meeting up with friends and relative. We also have Mars moving into Sagittarius, where it will be until March 17th. This is a really fun combo that is supportive of putting actions into our big ideas.
Saturday is a quiet one, but we do have that Gemini Moon in play, so keep your projects and communications short, simple and sweet. On Sunday the Moon will go Void of Course mid-morning. Mercury will be a bit busy today, with a challenging square with Uranus and a Sextile with Chiron. The Mercury/Uranus square is where we could experience some flashes of insight that can bring fresh clarity our way, however, the answers that we receive may not be what we wanted to hear as it disrupts those logical views of how things were. Its a time where news of information can come along that shakes us up, which isn’t always a bad thing. Especially if its something we needed to hear that can open us up to something we have been resisting. The Mercury/Chiron sextile brings us the opportunity to think and reflect on our pain as well as to talk about it. And sometimes that is all that is needed to get the ball rolling on healing ourselves. By the evening we will feel that shift from Gemini’s restlessness to Cancer’s instinctive need for peace and quiet. Quite often, when the Moon is in Cancer, we all become homebodies. We want to retreat to the place we feel most at home. This can bring out a sense of “homesickness” if we’re far from home, or estranged from others. It may be a time, then of reaching out to those that know us best.
