Week Ahead – Monday December 4th through Sunday December 10th

Happy Sunday everyone! Looks like we’ve had a wintry start to December for many and fold are already talking about a white Christmas. We shall see what lady Winter brings us I guess! Today we are under the influence of a Gemini Full Moon and the Sagittarius Sun, and the air and fire elements are particularly strong right now, bringing a passion to our ideas. This is also a great combo for those early holiday parties. We do have a challenge coming from Neptune for this Full Moon, an energy that stimulates us to open up our creative imagination to a higher and newer vision. However, this energy can also get us lost in unrealistic fantasy thinking. So make sure you take some extra time to research any big ideas, investments or romances before jumping straight in. Now, let’s have a look at what this first week of December has in store for us!

Monday evening brings us a brief Void of Course Moon before we feel the restlessness of the Gemini Moon giving way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet as the Moon moves into Cancer. Under Cancer’s influence, people become more sensitive and go deeper into their inner world, which takes on more importance at this time than the outer world. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Quite often, when the Moon is in Cancer, we all become homebodies. We want to retreat to the place we feel most at home. This can bring out a sense of “homesickness” if we’re far from home, or estranged from others. It may be a time, then of reaching out to those that know us best.

Tuesday sees the Wounded Healer, Chiron turning direct after its long retrograde cycle. Chiron’s influence will be subtle now, as we start to externalise our vulnerability, but this isn’t about complaining and playing the victim; it’s a way of sharing feelings that encourages closeness and compassion without descending into self-pity. While on a spiritual level suffering may seem like a noble thing, we do run the risk of becoming stuck in our own pain and suffering and not allowing healing and growth to occur. A healthy perspective to have during this transit is to not treat suffering as an ending, rather as a symptom that is meant to motivate and inspire us to heal and end our suffering. Some of us who work in healing or have an energy that attracts the wounded may find they are attracting more than usual now. If you choose to take up this challenge as a healer, be sure that you are protecting your own energy and not becoming part of each persons’ individual suffering by drawing in the energies of those you are helping!

Wednesday afternoon brings a Void of Course Moon that will remain there until this evening when it shifts into heart opening Leo, where we feel more energetic and optimistic. The Moon in Leo speaks to our “inner child”. It’s a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. This Moon brings a cheery vibe, making it easier to be lifted out of the doldrums. Its a good time for presentations, celebrations and social events. You might want to leave the day open, and let your spontaneous mischievous child inside lead the way. Mercury is busy today as well, with a conjunction with Saturn and a sextile with Mars. The Mercury/Saturn conjunction is a good time for taking a serious look at the circumstances and situations in our lives. It’s not a very upbeat energy but it’s a great energy to tap into when you need to take an objective, detached, clear view of life. The Mercury/Mars sextile brings us the potential to dig down and find the courage needed to speak our minds and stand up for ourselves and what we feel is right. This is a time when our ideas and words come so swiftly that we may find it hard to stop them from coming out before we have had a chance to think about the best way to present them. It’s an opportune transit for some creative problem solving and testing out our decisions to see if they will fit into our plans and goals. Lastly, we have a sextile between Mars and Saturn, which makes it a good time for appreciating our determined effort and actions. Our work projects tend to run more smoothly now if we combine a patient and disciplined approach with confidence and courage.  We may feel that our energy levels are a bit more toned down right now but this will be helpful for the detailed work we may have to do.

Thursday is a quiet one in the skies, giving us more time to focus on work and personal projects. Friday brings us a trine between the Sun and North Lunar Node, a transit that can make us feel confident, optimistic and empowered. Some may feel its energy a couple of days before and after this date. It could feel as if the pieces of the puzzle in any given situation, are just falling into place, allowing us to make progress in what we’re striving to do in our lives right now. We do need to be a bit cautious, however. Even though it feels like we can go forward we still need a bit of a reality check on the wisdom of what we want to do to be sure its still a good idea. Later this evening the Moon will briefly go Void of Course before moving into Virgo before midnight. So this practical energy will be with us for the weekend, making it a good time for holiday planning down to the small details.

Saturday is the day that Mars moves signs, going into deep feeling Scorpio, where it will remain until late January. What this helps us with is pushing through problems in situations we are passionate about. In Scorpio, Mars is driven and focused on getting what it wants. We become persevering, single-minded, and strong. We tend to be less inclined to avoid important issues now. In some ways, we are attracted to crisis, as we see crisis as transformative and emotionally exciting. We would rather feel extreme emotions than nothing at all, as mediocrity or the “middle road” is felt to be unsatisfying. We just need to keep things in balance and not go overboard with the depth of emotions this time can bring our way.

Sunday is a busy one for Mercury and Venus. We have a Mercury/Uranus trine, bringing a mental shift that many can feel. Under this transit, we can experience unusual ideas, flashes of insight and seeing unexpected possibilities. It’s much easier to be open-minded right now, especially about insights that have eluded us. Our ability to see beyond our normal horizon of perception can bring visionary brainwaves, “Aha!” moments, as well as a fun side to our sense of humour. This is a great time to do some writing or other forms of self-expression, especially if it’s spontaneous or involving technology. We also have a challenging square between Mercury and Chiron, which can make our mental focus and perceptions feel a bit strained at times. It can be all too easy to do a bit of fence sitting as we feel unable to make choices and decisions. On the other hand, this transit could bring your mental perspective to a kind of “healing crisis” that forces you to get a better grip on the ideas, communication and frame of mind that have been problematic for you. Again, try to keep things in balance.

Then we have Venus and Neptune squaring off today, where those areas that Venus rules, such as relationships, resources, pleasure and money are subject to deception, confusion and wishful thinking that is unrealistic. It can be all too easy for imagination and fantasy to fog our judgment and create romantic confusion. For example, we find that something we thought we had (resources, love, friendship, money) has suddenly become undependable or has up and disappeared. Feeling disillusioned, disappointed, alone or depressed can come with this transit. However, try to keep in mind that this may just be a passing phase and not a more serious crisis at this time.
