Week Ahead – Monday, February 17th through Sunday, February 23rd

Happy Sunday everyone! February has been a wet and wild one for many of us so far. The month is half over already and today, we have Mars moving into Capricorn, setting the tone for the next 6 weeks. The focus is on building for the future and being rewarded for your hard work and solid plans. Just bear in mind that Mercury will be going retrograde on Monday, so leave some room in your planning for any changes that occur along the way. We will also have a lot of Capricorn/Pisces energy coming into play this week, which will let us be open to a higher vision that we can bring down to earth. Now, Let’s see what this week has in store for us.

Today, Mercury begins its Retrograde cycle in Pisces, and this cycle will last until March 9th. For nearly a week before and a week after today, Mercury will be moving at a snail’s pace or pausing entirely. At this time we can experience confusion, intensity, frustration, lots of miscommunication or we may feel we are getting bogged down with any progress we were making. Mercury is retrograde in the sign of Pisces, which puts us in a meditative, dream-like state. This means that, during this transit, analytical or logical thought may not be that easy to achieve. Remember, with Mercury Retrograde we need to stay flexible with our plans and make room for the changes and detours this transit can bring our way.

As we begin our morning, the Moon will briefly go Void of Course, and then shift into Capricorn. There is an increase in formality, strictness and exactitude, with a tendency to reserve and distance. Rules and regulations are dominant. The next couple of days are good for all activities that require extra responsibility and discipline, but you shouldn’t rely on someone’s receptivity or emotional pliability right now.

Happy Solar Return to all of your Pisceans out there. The Sun shifts into the sign of the fish, which rules empathy, selfless love, devotion, and wisdom. Its shadow side rules self-pity, a feeling of being victimized by life, passivity, and elusiveness. This can be a time for turning inward and nurturing our personal inner peace. Our empathy gets ramped up and we seem to be able to connect with others more easily. We can use these next few weeks to cultivate our creative instincts and talents and listening to what our subconscious has been telling us up until now.

The Moon will go Void of Course in the early afternoon and then move into Aquarius in the evening. This makes the next couple of days good for breaking out of our normal routines, getting together with friends, or trying something new. Aquarius is drawn to all that is new and unusual, and this can be a great time for discovering something new that interests you. We also have a sextile between Jupiter and Neptune today, which brings a feeling of harmony and ease and heightens our intuition and imagination. It’s a good transit if you are looking for some creative inspiration.

Mars is active today, as the planet of war mingles with explosive Uranus and the Wounded Healer. We first have a trine between Mars and Uranus, a transit that lasts for about 2 to 3 days. It brings high energy that can be unpredictable, and we may get these short bursts of energy both physically and emotionally. It’s also a time when we may feel more drawn to taking risks and our focus is on the future. We then have a challenging square between Mars and Chiron, which can force us to confront issues around how we get hurt by others and how we can heal. It can feel overwhelming at times, so remember to take breaks to ground yourself.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, the Moon will go Void of Course until early Sunday morning. During Void periods, it’s good for doing some inner work, but not the best time for making decisions. We also have a fun little transit between the Sun and Uranus today, which can bring out our spontaneous and quirky side. It’s a day for humour and being able to break out of those old habits.

Early Sunday morning, the Moon moves into Pisces and begins her New lunation. A New Moon is that it is all about new beginnings that come from a deeper and more spiritual level of our being. It’s a good idea to take time and see where your philosophies don’t measure up to your day to day life. In Pisces, it’s a good time to look at where we may be scattering our energies right now. We also have Venus in a challenging square to Jupiter today, which draws us towards wanting to take part in pleasurable things. It’s an optimistic transit, but we do need to take care that we don’t go overboard with things.
