Week Ahead – Monday, April 29th through Sunday, May 5th

Happy Sunday everyone! We only have a couple more days left of April. May 1st, which is on Wednesday, begins the Pagan celebration of Beltaine or May Day. Today we have a quiet, gentle energy in play, with the Moon moving into Pisces. This week will see the third planet going retrograde, amping up the energy for putting the past in order and prepare for bigger changes to come. For now, let’s see what this week has in store for us.

Today Saturn joins Jupiter and Pluto in Capricorn as it begins its retrograde cycle. For up to a week before and after today, our physical and emotional energy may feel a bit heavy, stuck, serious or sad. We might feel held back by circumstances or pressured by people or situations involving structure, rules, authority figures, expectations and responsibilities. Over the next four months, our goals and ambitions get a beneficial boost from developing and planning on a deeper level. This will be a time for reworking and refining our goals so that we can determine how we can best achieve them. Another area we may need to examine is our motives for wanting to achieve these goals, as well as how feasible they are. So we may look at how those goals, or the methods we have used to achieve them, need to be changed.

Today begins with Saturn making an opposition to the Lunar North Node. When Saturn is opposite the North Lunar Node it is also conjunct the South Node. This transit shows us that there is something we need to let go of. It may be something that must end or a person or situation we need to detach ourselves from. It’s a time to stop, step back, reassess and regroup. In the late evening, the Moon will go Void of Course.

May Day Blessings! Just before Noon today the Moon will shift into fiery Aries. Some may actually feel this shift more than others. An Aries Moon tends to bring conflict more than most times, with emotional tensions growing, people becoming short-tempered and impulsive. It is a good time for athletics, and for solving problems by ‘brainstorming’. Mercury is keeping itself busy today with 3 transits, a sextile with Mars, a square with Saturn, and a Square with the Lunar North Node today as well. The Mercury/Mars transit helps us to dig down deep to find the courage we need to speak our minds. Just keep in mind that thoughtful actions will produce positive results and by planning ahead for possible consequences we can minimize any potential conflicts. The Mercury/North Node transit can have us feeling compelled to do a 360 about where we have been headed on our life’s path. It’s a time when information or facts turn up that are in total contradiction to what we believed was true or real about our sense of life purpose. Then there is the Mercury/Saturn transit, which can bring some obstacles, delays, and over-critical thinking. So try to take things one step at a time today.

Mercury continues its busyness with another square, this time with Pluto. Square aspects usually bring challenges or obstacles that we need to overcome. Mercury Square Pluto is no exception here and we need to be cautious with this transit with impulsive and obsessive interaction between quick to speak Mercury and burn your bridges, Pluto. This transit often brings some level of mental stress and pressure. Avoid the tendency to read between the lines with a negative slant, as it is bound to only stir up trouble. Consider that some situations call for keeping silent if only for the time being. Also, watch out for dramatic outbursts and events, both personally and globally. We then have a trine between Mercury and Jupiter, which can help ease the pressure of the past day or so. It will give us a chance to step back to get a broader overview of projects we are working on, especially business-related ones.

Our morning begins with a Void of Course Moon that will move into Taurus in the late evening. The Taurus Moon will bring us some much-needed peace as we feel the tension of the past few days start to drop away. People tend to become calmer and peaceful under a Taurus Moon and it’s a good energy to get the weekend started.

Saturday is our Taurus New Moon, which gives us the opportunity to ground and settle any energies that we have unearthed. It brings a nurturing energy that allows us to move forward and guides us to physically engage in those things that nurture us. Things like spending quality time with your family and engaging in activities that bring physical satisfaction, working with our hands in crafting, creating, cooking, gardening, cleaning and building all can bring a sense of deep satisfaction now. This also gives us a chance to pull back a bit and allow integration and rest after engaging in those new ideas and opportunities that Aries urged us to take action with.

Sunday brings an opposition between Mars and Jupiter, which can be a time of inspired action, as well as brash overconfidence. It’s an energy we may feel for up to a week prior and a week after today, where we may experience an amplification of our anger, energy, ability to take action and libido. The problem here is that this energy can be amplified to the point of us pushing ourselves beyond what is realistic, causing some to be unable to cope with boundaries that are reasonable and keep us from getting out of control. The way to work with this energy is to find that fine line of balance between our spiritual inspiration and our ego-based desires. The Moon goes Void of Course mid-afternoon.
