Week Ahead – Monday, December 31st through Sunday, January 6th

  • Posted on December 30, 2018 at 7:30 am
Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you had a lovely Yule and are ready for the start of a new year. January looks like it will bring a deep shift in planetary energy so it will be interesting to see how things around the world unfold. Today the Moon is still in balancing Libra, giving the day a feeling of calm and harmony. It’s a nice social energy to end the weekend with. Let’s take a look at what the last days of 2018 and the first of 2019 has in store for us.
MONDAY/TUESDAY – New Year’s Eve/Day
Our morning begins with the Moon moving into brooding Scorpio. This is an energy that can have some of us feeling more like drawing within than being out in the maddening crowds counting down the hours to the New Year. Mars will also be starting its 6-week journey in through Aries. These energies can stoke the fires of passion, enthusiasm, and Aries’ pioneering spirit. Whatever you decide to do to ring in the New Year, be safe! New Year’s day continues under the influence of the Scorpio Moon for most of the day and goes Void of Course before midnight.
At the start of our morning, the Moon will be moving into optimistic Sagittarius. This brings a social and fun vibe to the next couple of days. We also have a conjunction between the Sun and Saturn. The influence of the Sun’s transits to the planets tend to be brief ones, usually lasting about a day. The Sun’s energy acts to signify the issues and conditions surrounding the planet that it is transiting. We may experience some minor setbacks or disappointments that could cause our confidence to feel challenged. So we really need to take care that we aren’t being too hard on ourselves at this time, or worry excessively. On the plus side, its a good day for tackling projects that require a lot of detail. Just make sure you don’t let yourself get too bogged down in the details or you may end up slowing yourself down even more. Focus on what is important for now and use the day for setting up a plan for your more long-term goals.
Today Mercury makes a challenging square to Chiron, making our mental focus and perception feel a bit strained. We have this tendency to “sit on the fence” because we feel we aren’t able to make choices and decisions. It’s probably best to leave any major decisions alone during this time. Sometimes this transit can bring your mental perspective to a kind of “healing crisis” that forces you to get a better grip on the ideas, communication and frame of mind that have been problematic for you.
Friday has a bit of a fun energy to it at the start because we have a trine between talkative Mercury and out of the ordinary Uranus. It’s a good day for trying new things and meeting new people. There is a sextile between the Sun and Neptune during the day, a transit that can illuminate our intuition and give us faith in the blessings around us. Its a time for letting go of imagining what is not possible and focusing on what is. It’s a good transit for pursuing mystical and spiritual matters too. We have a trine between Venus and the North Lunar Node that makes us feel more comfortable in our own skin and the social world around us. In the latter part of the afternoon, the Moon briefly goes Void of Course. It then moves into Capricorn in the early evening, where our focus takes on a more serious tone.
Saturday brings a New Moon/Partial Solar Eclipse in Capricorn. This is the first solar eclipse in Capricorn since 2011. Some of us may have been feeling the effects of this for a few months now. Its an energy that tends to be serious in tone, and this is because 5 of our 10 planets used in astrology are in this serious-minded sign. Its a time for setting long-term goals and making sure we get them done. We have Pluto involved in this energy as well, demanding that we release anything that takes away our power. Saturn is tied to this eclipse as well, which means we should be working towards long-term outcomes and not immediate gratification.
On Sunday, Uranus ends its 4-month retrograde cycle and begins to move forward. This can bring a turning point in any situations that involve freedom, breaking free from old patterns and situations, expressing our uniqueness, and rebelling. Things may feel a wee bit chaotic for a week up to and after this transit. But what revolutionary Uranus really wants is to clear the way for new growth and manifestation in our lives. So expect the unexpected at this time because this influence will be working through the next 8 months.

Week Ahead – Monday, December 24th through Sunday, December 30th

  • Posted on December 23, 2018 at 7:30 am

Happy Sunday everyone and Yuletide Blessings to you all! I hope you all managed to get your shopping and plans done for the next couple of days. We are under the influence of a Cancer Moon until tomorrow afternoon, which makes it a good day for chilling out at home with those you feel closest to, wrapping those last minute gifts and sorting out the festivities for Christmas Eve and Day. This is the last full week of December and nearly the end of 2018! January will be bringing us our first Capricorn Solar Eclipse since 2011. We have the last Lunar Eclipse in Leo and Aquarius mid-month until 2026. This eclipse represents a deep shift in the energy on our planet. Now, let’s see what this coming week has in store for us.

Merry Christmas Eve! The Moon will be going Void of Course mid-afternoon before moving into heart opening Leo in the later afternoon. It’s a great energy for releasing your inner child. Play Santa, enjoy watching Christmas shows, track Santa online with the NORAD Santa Tracker with the kids. Just have fun! We do have one thing we need to be careful about, and that’s a challenging square between Mercury and Neptune happening today. So be careful of drivers who aren’t paying attention, as well as drunk drivers. This is a good influence for opening up our minds to spiritual concepts though. Christmas Day continues with that pleasant Leo Moon energy.

Today is Boxing Day in the UK and we have a Void of Course Moon mid-afternoon. During Void of Course periods it’s advisable to not make major purchases or take important actions, so be careful if you are doing any shopping today. The Moon will move into Virgo in the late afternoon, where we instinctually gravitate towards practical activities. In an urge to set things right, we might easily find ourselves re-organizing and rethinking plans. This makes it a good time for doing routine work that requires precision, concentration on detail and hard work. A Virgo Moon always reminds me of Spring cleaning where we de-clutter, make room, open the windows and let the fresh air flow through. This fits in with the after Christmas rush, where we clean up, find room for new things, put together kids toys, and box-up extra food.

Thursday brings a trine between Mars and the Lunar North Node. Mars’ interaction with the is the most dynamic. It gives us the courage we need to follow through on our new ideas, as well as helping us to strike out on our own. Our actions and timing tend to feel in sync with socially accepted norms. The only thing to be careful about is that we tend to take risks under this transit. Friday brings a gentle energy between relationship planet Venus and deeper level Pluto, making it a good time for going to deeper emotional levels in your significant relationships. The Moon goes Void of Course mid-afternoon, then moves into balancing Libra mid-evening. The Moon in Libra creates this feeling of harmony and calm. It’s a good time for social gatherings, celebrations, business meetings, and a romantic rendezvous. However, our ability to make decisions suffers because we are more prone to doubts and hesitation. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides of any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others’ approval is another.

Saturday brings a conjunction between Mars and Chiron. This Mars/Chiron conjunction is a tricky one. Mars tends to bring Chiron related things to the surface, sometimes in a harsh or brutal way. Mars wants us to be assertive and raises our desire to put ourselves out there. However, Chiron obstructs our ability to assert ourselves. So we may become ashamed of who we are, often making us feel unable to defend ourselves and who we are. The key to healing under this transit is by learning to turn those feelings of anger, shame, and the pain of being a human being into strength and compassion. The message here is for us to understand that there is nothing for is to be ashamed of. While this can be a painful transit, the difficulties we face now can make us more conscious of our patterns and behaviors, leading us towards healing and acceptance. In its highest expression, this Mars/Chiron transit stands for energy and spirit coming together with a strong drive to take action, and leave something behind for those who will follow.

Sunday brings us a Void of Course Moon in the late evening, seeing December go out on a quiet note as we enter the new year, which will start off with the Moon in Scorpio. Have a Happy New Year everyone!

Week Ahead – Monday, December 17th through Sunday, December 23rd

  • Posted on December 16, 2018 at 7:30 am
Happy Sunday everyone! Hope you are all keeping safe and warm with this wintry weather we are having in the UK. We are only a few days away from the Winter Solstice/Yule, Christmas and a new year! It’s always a busy and stressful time of the year for us so make sure you take some time out for yourself to recharge your batteries during all of the hustle and bustle. The energies around today and this evening focus on relationships. We have a soft sextile energy between Venus and Saturn, which helps us with those diplomatic themes regarding boundaries, relationships, and long-term plans in them. Late this evening and into Monday Mars makes a sextile with Pluto, which can help us take those conversations to a deeper level. Let’s see what this week ahead has in store for us.
We still have that Aries Moon energy with us at the start of the week so you may feel the need to be active to burn off some of that fiery energy. We have Mars and Pluto making a sextile today, which can boost our focus and determination to get things done. It’s a day for intense conversations and exploring the deeper levels of our relationships. It’s also an energy that has us feeling drawn to exploring and investigating for hidden resources of all kinds. Our physical energy levels are heightened at this time and we may discover that we can work very hard for long periods of time. This means that we really need to pay attention to our body during this time; remember to eat and rest when you need to and avoid burning out.
Our morning begins with a short Void of Course Moon that will be moving into earthy Taurus as we are starting our morning off. We are more drawn to comfort and being a homebody under Taurus’ energy so it may be a good time for focusing on practical matters. The grounded nature of Taurus allows us to be focused on one thing. It’s a fixed sign, that inspires us to go into something fully, to flesh it out. The Taurus energy helps you discover your natural talent. And you might find it easier to practice your craft or hobby. You can get in the zone of work, and take pleasure in making real progress. It’s an excellent time to be in the studio or with your musical instrument. You can earth your dreams in real ways.
Today we have the life-giving Sun in a challenging square with the Wounded Healer, Chiron. When these two planets come together in a challenging position we tend to find our patience and confidence feels a bit strained as we feel a need to break free of chronic constraints. Motivation and self-esteem can drop and it may feel hard to just get through the day. It’s also best to be open to getting what you want in a way you didn’t expect. You may also find other opportunities along the way that were not available to you with the route you were taking before. Go with the flow!
The Moon will go Void of Course just after midnight (Wednesday) and remain there until mid-afternoon on Thursday. It will then shift energy as it moves into Gemini. The Moon in Gemini favours study, intellectual pursuits, acquaintances, conferences and gatherings. However, heightened changeability and scattering your interests can prevent you from getting definite, tangible results. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle. It is a good time, however, to be on the move, travelling short distances in order to fulfil that need for new impressions, and meeting up with friends and relative. We also have a trine between the Sun and Uranus today, which can be a very liberating energy. It could give you that push you need to get out of a rut and is a good time for breaking out of old cycles and habits.
Today is our Winter Solstice/Yule and the Solar Return for Capricorn. The next few weeks will bring a time of structure into our lives and setting boundaries that are helpful and nurturing rather than restrictive and binding. It’s also a time when we prepare for the worst, expecting the best. Ruled by Saturn, Planet of Karma, Capricorn’s Sun transit can feel a bit frustrating. We have Mercury and Jupiter in a conjunction now as well, an energy that can help us visualize in broader terms and see the “big picture”. Travel is favoured as well under this transit.  Mercury is right at home in Gemini making our mental antennae trying to face every direction at once. Curiosity has us picking up a lot of new information and we are more open to learning new things. Jupiter in Gemini pushes us to express our ideas in creative ways. Using our talent for communications can also bring financial and spiritual rewards our way. The quest for knowledge expands our world and nourishes our curiosity now. Lastly, we have a trine between Venus and Neptune happening, which can bring about a time of romance, creativity, and feeling a sense of oneness with the beauty of nature. This can be great socially and intimately because things tend to run more smoothly as well as adding a touch of magic to the pot. It’s important however to be very clear about what we truly want! There is a tendency under this transit to see wonderful traits in a person that are not really there. Make sure that you are being clear about what it is you truly want though and with any important choices, be sure you use a good dose of reality.
On the heels of the Winter Solstice comes our Full Moon Saturday, just before noon. It starts off in Gemini, goes Void of Course for a couple of hours in the afternoon, and then moves into Cancer in the later afternoon. This Full Moon has a theme due to the nodes of the Moon being at the end degrees of Capricorn and Cancer right now, and the Moon being at the begin of these signs. Its a time for looking at beginnings and endings in our life. Cancer wants security and nurturing. Capricorn wants to be responsible yet have healthy boundaries. Look at your emotional responsibilities as well as your emotional boundaries to help figure out what needs to be adjusted. This Full Moon sets the tone for the coming year, so it is a good idea for us to take some internal time to look at what is nurturing us and what is not. On Sunday we have Juno ending its retrograde cycle. Juno has been in Taurus during this cycle, and it has been a time where areas of our relationships have been tested. With Juno moving forward now, we can look at those areas that are weak in our relationships, strengthen them, or decide that it is time to move on.

Week Ahead – Monday, December 10th through Sunday, December 16th

  • Posted on December 9, 2018 at 7:30 am

Happy Sunday everyone! We don’t have a lot of activity through this week, and today we are working with that Capricorn Moon energy through tomorrow evening. So it will be a good time to continue that theme of taking care of practical projects. Things turn more social mid-week and there are some quieter aspects to tap into through this week and into the weekend. Let’s take a look at what this week has in store.
We have the Moon in Capricorn all day today, so finish up those practical projects before this evening. The Moon goes Void of Course in the later part of the evening and then shifts into Aquarius just before midnight. Aquarius has that social and rebellious vibe. It’s a good time for reading, study and scientific pursuits. This is a time that promotes social gatherings, dealing with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas, and progressive changes. We also have an impulse to break out of claustrophobic situations and relationships. However, activities which require subordination and discipline, as well as jobs which bore you, will go from bad to worse now.
Tuesday continues with the Moon’s social Aquarius energy, which will be with us until Thursday afternoon. Wednesday sees communication planet Mercury move into Sagittarius, where it will be until early January. This is a great energy for getting out and sharing with others. Refocusing, readjusting, freedom and independence – these are the things Mercury in Sagittarius will bring. To some, this energy can feel a bit overwhelming and make it hard to grasp the vast terrain of knowledge that we are now perceiving. The best way to deal with this energy is to step back a bit in order to get a bigger view. This is a good thing to do for those issues in our life that we feel a bit stuck or blocked by. Step back and try to view any issues from a distance.
Try to take it easy over the next 2 days. We have the Moon going Void of Course mid-morning on Thursday, and then moving into Pisces just after noon. This turns our focus towards spirituality, romance, intuition, movies, and wanting to nap. The Moon will also be making several aspects to other planets over the next two days where relationships are concerned. So the best way to deal with this energy is to flow from one thing or person to another. The negative side of a Pisces Moon is that it can be harder to deal with the harsher aspects of reality during these lunar days. We may escape with one more drink, or “check out” in front of the television. It’s easy to coast through the day when you’re dreamy or “lost.” It helps to have some creative focus, in order not to flounder in the sign of the Fishes.
Just before noon on Saturday the Moon will go Void of Course and remain there until just after midnight. With the Moon in its quiet Void of Course phase, it’s not the best time for purchasing important items or initiating important actions. If you have to get out and shop today, hang on to those receipts in case you need to exchange anything. In the wee hours of Sunday morning, the Moon moves into fiery Aries. Some of you may find it difficult to sleep because Aries infuses us with energy. With the Moon in Aries, we’re motivated by a strong desire to start fresh. We get this gut instinct to start something new, as well as the motivation to do so. We do run the risk of being tactless and impulsive, however, so we need to think before we speak. Quick short activities are favored, rather than doing any tedious footwork. You can encourage a friend, work on self-promotion materials, or throw a party.
We also have a sextile between Venus and Saturn today, which makes it an ideal day for romantic yearnings, fantasies, and longings. It makes the perfect time to ask yourself if there is a dream of yours, perhaps one you had to shelve for a while, that you can now take down, blow off the dust, and make it come true. It is also possible to find stability in both our finances and relationships now, especially those where we feel more inclined to negotiate realistically and fairly. Those of us who suffer from depression may want to take a bit of extra care that we don’t let ourselves become so stable and grounded that we totally lose touch with our sense of hope and potential. To get the most of this transit, try keeping your pleasures humble and simple.

Week Ahead – Monday, December 3rd through Sunday, December 9th

  • Posted on December 2, 2018 at 7:30 am

Happy Sunday everyone and happy December! This month will be a lot calmer than what we have been experiencing this year. We have the Moon in Libra today, which makes it a great time for sharing with others. Retrograde Mercury is now moving backwards into Scorpio as well, so we can communicate with those closest to us on a deeper level now. The energy towards this evening has a tired vibe to it, so get your activities done early and let yourself rest this evening. Now let’s take a look at what this week has in store for us!

We still have that Libra energy in play until the early evening, when the Moon briefly goes Void of Course and then moves into Scorpio. This can be an emotionally difficult time for some, with an increase in feelings like jealousy, greediness, envy and other negative feelings. We may see the world as black and white. Our sexuality and sensuality levels rise and become strong, powerful emotions run high, and diplomacy and tact will noticeably decline. However, it is a good time for any occupation which needs intensity and total devotion. Venus has just joined the Moon in Scorpio as well, where she will be until the early part of January. We should start seeing a cycle of completion and things moving forward since her retrograde cycle back in October. Use this time to get focused on your material needs and desires, as well as opening up to going deeper in your relationships.

Mercury will be a bit busy today, making a trine with both Chiron and the Lunar North Node. The Mercury/Chiron transit opens up the door of positive and healing communication with those around us. We’ll find it much easier now to get our point across to others and using our words to heal. At this time our cynical side (or that of others) and feelings of depression become softened and allows us to be more receptive to an optimistic view of things. We can use this transit’s energies to heal negative attitudes while motivating ourselves to change our perspective. The Mercury/North Node transit brings us a fresher awareness as well as a better ability to communicate that awareness. It is a beneficial resource which can help us to take a few more steps closer towards our life purpose. Just bear in mind that we also need to take action too. We will need to, at some juncture, take into account what we have observed and do something with this.

Today we have a challenging square between the Sun and Neptune, which can bring a lack of desire to work and a kind of spaced out feeling. This does make it a good time for focusing introspectively in order to better understand where we are on or off track with our higher visions, making adjustments along the way. This is a tricky challenging transit to work with because it has the tendency to take those wistful ideas and wishful thinking and make them seem more realistic than they actually are. What tends to happen then is that we become disillusioned and prone to disappointment. In the late evening, the Moon will go Void of Course.

Today starts with the Moon moving into Sagittarius in the wee hours of the morning, bringing a sense of peace and stability, along with a dash of optimism and adventure. We also have Mercury ending its backwards retrograde motion. For up to a week before and after today, you may experience mental intensity, confusion, and miscommunication or changes in your outlook. With Mercury beginning its forward motion once more, we can start to implement those new plans, tweaks and ideas. Things will start out a bit slowly, but ramp up as we move into the next 2 weeks.

Friday is a busy day and begins with a Sagittarius New Moon, and we have some strong fire and water elements in play, making it a good time for setting goals and deadlines. The New Moon is also challenging Mars at this time, so try to avoid saying yes to things when you really wish you had said no. Some may experience too little or too much sleep during this time. Since this is also the start of the Yule season, we get a sprinkling of that energy that makes children excited with the wonder of the festive season. Our belief that there is hope on the horizon, freedom ahead, and a chance to release the negative is what Sagittarian energy brings us. It tends to turn cynicism down a notch. Every sign has it’s shadow side as well though and the results of Sagittarius’ energy being blocked means a stronger belief in hardships, deepening cynicism, and believing that our boundaries are so fixed that we can never reach beyond them. Some may choose to blame others for their difficulties in life.

Remember, the New Moon is all about new beginnings and Sagittarius is that happy go lucky adventurer that wants the open roads, broad horizons, and wisdom. Lastly, we have a conjunction between Mars and Neptune, and things can get a little strange with this one. We may swing between lethargic confusion and uplifting inspiration. There could be a few instances where you need to take a leap of faith and be flexible. This transit usually initiates a new cycle for us and the events and issues that come up now will more than likely have much more going on under the surface. These deeper levels will unfold and develop more through this cycle.

Saturday starts off with a mid-morning Void of Course Moon that moves into Capricorn just after noon. Capricorn energy can help us accomplish all of those tangible tasks that now need our attention for the holidays ahead. Formality, exactitude, and strictness rise with a Capricorn Moon, and we may feel drawn to be more distant and reserved. Rules and regulations become more dominant as well. It is a suitable time for activities that require that extra bit of responsibility and discipline.

Sunday sees the Wounded Healer Chiron go direct after its 4 1/2 month retrograde period. Chiron is in Pisces at this time which can have us feeling like we have one foot in the physical world and one in the spiritual realm, caught between the mental and emotional aspects of our lives or feeling a conflict between our outer objective and our inner subjective experiences.  As Chiron moves forward we find it’s time to take all that we have learned over the last few months and apply them over the coming months while Chiron is still in its shadow.  Mercury also makes another trine with Chiron today, so we will be able to heal through communication more effectively. Our compassion and empathy are more readily available to us which will allow us to help others too. Don’t be surprised if you come across someone who can help you with long-standing issues of your own.
