Week Ahead – Monday, October 22nd through Sunday, October 28th

  • Posted on October 21, 2018 at 7:30 am
Happy Sunday everyone! We are down to our last full week of October already! The trees are changing in all of their colourful glory and the days are definitely growing shorter. We have an interesting week ahead with a Taurus Full moon, the Sun moving into Scorpio, and Venus still in her retrograde cycle. Today we still have the Moon in Pisces, a kind of quiet energy. Use today to get ready for the coming week because the start of the work week may feel a bit rushed. Some of you may have a restless night with the Moon making its move into Aries. Now, let’s see what this week has in store for us.
Our morning begins with an early Void of Course Moon that will be moving into fiery Aries as we start our day. Some may actually feel this shift more than others. An Aries Moon tends to bring conflict more than most times, with emotional tensions growing, people becoming short-tempered and impulsive. Even the sweetest tempered person can become a bit mean under this moon. However, it becomes easier to shake old problem and the weight of tiresome responsibility. We want to free ourselves from everything that bothers us and makes our lives feel uneasy. Our pioneering impulses are strong as well under this influence, and we tend to feel more energetic, spontaneous, and enthusiastic. This can be an emotionally cathartic few days. Instead of sidling up to a problem, you can attack it head-on. If you’ve been bottling up righteous anger, this Moon gives you the courage to let the truth fly. It brings out the “fight” in everybody. Getting into it with others is always risky, but it provokes change, and sometimes for the better. It’s a great time to have an opening for an art show, a business, or to sell your house. It supports you if you’ve got to be dynamic, for a job interview or on a date. You can go ahead and start that project or try to sell your idea to others. Quick short activities are favoured, rather than doing any tedious footwork. You can encourage a friend, work on self-promotion materials, or throw a party. We also have a sextile between Mercury and Pluto, a transit where our communications are fuelled by our passion. We do run the risk of speaking too forcefully though or being too pushy in trying to get what we want, and this is magnified with that Aries Moon energy. We can take the information coming our way and transform these into something that can be either healing or wounding depending on how we wield them.
Today the Sun moves into Scorpio, so Happy Solar Return to all of your native Scorpio’s out there! The Sun in Scorpio begins the season of Halloween when the veils between the worlds are thinnest. This is a time when we assess what we have harvested and how we can apply it during the cold winter months. Reviewing individual assets to determine if they’re being applied efficiently is a good move at this time. Holding onto what has lost its value becomes very costly, making this a time to eliminate objects, aspirations, behaviour and people that we can no longer afford. Scorpio brings a certain intensity that challenges us to really look more closely at how this intensity is manifesting in our lives. Scorpio asks “What are you passionate about? What lights that fire in you?” The Sun will also be making an opposition to Uranus today, whose energy can be like a wake-up call. Life will definitely be a bit unpredictable at this time which means we need to be on our toes and flexible! Some may feel very stressed out by this energy where others will feel inspired and excited. This transit is like a sudden spotlight on a darkened path that reveals a new path altogether for us.
We may feel a bit shaken up, startled, even caught off guard or confused and uncertain about what we should do next. When this happens it is best to take a step back, centre yourself and then look at the situation again to see what that light is shining on for us. Later this evening the Moon will be in her quiet Void of Course stage.
By mid-afternoon the Moon will shift into earthy Taurus, allowing the tensions of the past few days slip away. We tend to become calmer, peaceful, and feel more stable and secure under its influence. We may feel ourselves slowing down a bit now. The grounded nature of Taurus allows us to be focused on one thing. It’s a fixed sign, that inspires us to go into something fully, to flesh it out. The Taurus energy helps you discover your natural talent. And you might find it easier to practice your craft or hobby. You can get in the zone of work, and take pleasure in making real progress. It’s an excellent time to be in the studio or with your musical instrument. You can earth your dreams in real ways. In the early evening the Moon will reach her Full lunation, so we have that mix of Taurus and Scorpio energy in play. Venus is making her way towards Scorpio as well during her retrograde cycle. So these energies will shine a light on our relationships, finances, and values. It will be pushing us to go to a deeper level to determine if we are getting what we need and desire, and what may be getting in the way of that. This isn’t just about people getting in our way, but about our own attitudes, behaviours, and beliefs.
Over on the other side of the sky, we have Uranus connecting with this emotional Moon, so we can expect some internal struggles between wanting to keep our emotions, safe, secure, and comforted, and wanting a sense of freedom no matter the cost. The Moon is also challenging our spiritual destiny nodes, which can make us feel as if we are being pulled apart at the seams. A familiar theme has been occurring for the past year and a half where we feel we need to detach ourselves from the drama of our lives and the world around us in order to figure out where our heart is engaged, and where it wants to go in another direction. We have a few fixed signs in the skies right now, which is great for persevering through these challenges, however, it isn’t the easiest energy for letting go. Venus makes a sextile to Saturn later in the day, which brings out our romantic yearnings, fantasies and longings. It makes the perfect time to ask yourself if there is a dream of yours, perhaps one you had to shelve for a while, that you can now take down, blow off the dust, and make it come true. Many of us may feel less than social at this time and steer away from conversations that seem frivolous or gossipy. But discussing financial matters and relationship responsibilities can go well under this transit.
Today starts us off with the Sun aligning with Venus, which is still retrograde. It brings a nice blend of harmony and energy that makes it a good day to share with others, and makes a great energy for any Halloween parties going on. Under this social transit’s energy, we want to be seen and get noticed, mainly for our natural qualities. This desire to be social opens up doors of opportunity for us to reach out and connect with others today, as well as allows us to express ourselves with ease, charm, and grace. Whether you find yourself spending time with others or on your own, pursuing the things you love and enjoy comes easily now. This transit can also make us feel a bit on the lazy side and self-indulgent side so we need to be careful in how we plan the day. Try to keep it as low key as possible, avoiding filling your schedule with hectic and demanding tasks. Take the time to appreciate the beauty of nature all around you. Take a stroll through the park, visit an art museum or attend a social gathering. Don’t be surprised if a love interest is revived today or you seem to attract love and money situations your way.
The Moon moved into Gemini in the late hours of Friday evening so this energy will be in play throughout the weekend. Gemini is a talkative Moon, where our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and share ideas. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle. It is a good time, however, to be on the move, travelling short distances in order to fulfil that need for new impressions, and meeting up with friends and relative. But Oh, how short our attention span is when the Moon is in Gemini. There’s this restlessness in the air many feels. We want to be out and about, see new things and socializing. It can be a great time to catch up with friends or send out lots of messages (email, text messages, written letter). Our communication is short and fast. We meet n’ greet, but aren’t in the mood for anything too heavy. It’s a time where we exchange bits of information, facts, and witty observations. It’s also a good time for tying up loose ends, as long as no serious thought is required. It’s also a time for experimentation, perhaps mashing up your personal style. You might change your outfit many times, or coax out one of your lesser-known personalities. Watch out for the appearance of the evil twin, who utters things that you don’t really mean, just to say them. There may be no rhyme or reason for behaviour-thoughts-feelings today, and it’s all okay. Saturday also brings a sextile between the Sun and Saturn, which is great for taking care of loose ends and attending to small details. Focusing on practical matters and getting organized are good things to focus on now, especially if you are laying the foundation for something positive to grow. Sunday is a quiet one in the skies, with an early morning Void of Course Moon that will last until Monday morning.

Week Ahead – Monday, October 15th through Sunday, October 21st

Happy Sunday everyone! We are now heading into the middle half of October with Halloween not too far off. Today we are under the influence of a Void of Course Moon, but this changes later this evening when the Moon moves into Capricorn. This Capricorn Moon energy will be with us until Wednesday morning, so its a good time for getting those tangible goals accomplished. Let’s see what this new week has in store for us.
On Monday we have a conjunction between Mercury and Venus, a transit that is marked by receptive awareness, positive social connections, and diplomatic communication. That means having to negotiate any contracts, agreements, or mutual plans will go a lot more smoothly because all parties are focused on mutual balance to achieve an outcome that benefits all. The areas of music, art, drama…anything that provides us with a pleasant diversion will draw our attention now. We still have that Capricorn Moon energy on Tuesday, so its a good day for business lunches. In the late evening, the Moon will go Void of Course.
As we rise to start our day on Wednesday, the Moon will have shifted into Aquarius, changing the tone of energy. An Aquarius Moon wants freedom and change from our boring routines. It is a good period for reading, study and scientific pursuits. However, activities which require subordination and discipline, as well as jobs which bore you, will go from bad to worse now. The Moon in Aquarius can bring blessed relief from too much emoting. It allows us the distance to see the big picture. The mood takes us down tangents of thought or brings exciting flash ideas. It’s a great time for tuning into the collective currents. It favors social networking via the net or experimenting with other technologies that keep you connected. It’s time for embracing the new, the futuristic and innovative. It is the right mood for turning into group energy. It encourages a respect for each person, along with a cohesive awareness of the group as a whole. You can see your place in the bigger scheme of things. You can get an abstract take on how the different strands fit together. The Moon in Aquarius tunes us into the group psyche and soul.
Thursday is a quiet one in the skies, but we do still have that Aquarius Moon energy to work with. The tone becomes more relaxed on Friday. In the afternoon the Moon goes Void of COurse, where it will remain until the early evening. It then moves into Pisces, where our lives can take on a kind of mystical quality at the emotional and instinctive levels. Dreams and illusions, forgiveness, and understanding human frailties: these things arouse deep feelings for us. A sensitivity of feeling is acute and boundaries between each of us dissolve when the Moon is passing through Pisces. We’ve got a heightened sense of empathy and can show compassion for human struggles and weakness. There is also a tendency for getting overly involved in the problems of others, causing us to temporarily lose ourselves in the process. It’s wise to watch out for those who prey on the goodwill of others at this time. We have a trine between Mercury and Neptune in play, and imagination and intuition run high when these two planets meet. We may find that we are in the right place at the right time, or that we get the information we want almost “magically”. While this is mostly a time for being optimistic, creative, intuitive, and hopeful it is also a smart move to keep at least one foot on terra firma. We also have a challenging square between Mercury and Mars going on, and this transit is characterized by hot debates, fiery speech and lots of arguments. We may experience this in forms of conflict or we may find these exchanges as challenging yet stimulating. We just need to remember to pace all of that mental energy. We can get through this one by keeping a tight rein on our judgment and objectivity when having verbal duels. We can tap into this energy and use it to fan the flames of motivation or take our ideas and use them to generate some positive and constructive action.
There isn’t much else happening in the skies for this weekend, but we do have the sociable Pisces Moon energy lingering, so use that to get out and see a good movie or listen to some live music. Early Monday brings an Aries Moon our way so many of you may feel the restless effects of this on Sunday night when you are trying to get to bed. Find some ways to get rid of that extra energy if you can before bedtime.

Week Ahead – Monday, October 8th through Sunday, October 14th

Happy Sunday everyone! Today we are under the influence of a practical Virgo Moon, so we will feel more inclined to do mundane tasks around the home, or tend to our spiritual, inner needs later in the day when the Moon goes Void of Course. Let’s have a look at what the week ahead has in store for us.
In the wee hours of Monday morning, the Moon moves into Libra, which creates a feeling of calm and harmony for us now. It’s easier to connect with people under a Libra Moon and we are more likely to be willing to make compromises. Creating order is also the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. Things we like to do under a Libra Moon include mediating, negotiating a fair deal, restoring balance with a friend or family member, taking it easy, beautifying your home space, meditating, decorating, de-cluttering, throwing a dinner party, attending a lecture, visiting a museum, writing or editing, experimenting with fashion, indulging in luxury.
Tuesday morning we have a Void of Course Moon, as well as a New Moon which will be in Libra. We have a few things going on with this New Moon with Venus in her retrograde cycle and a “let go, let god” vibe coming from Pluto. Libra wants us to live our lives in balance and is normally a very social moon, but with Venus in Scorpio right now, along with Pluto’s death and rebirth energies, we get this added dose of deep private emotions over the next few days. So this New Moon is about allowing ourselves to be vulnerable with those who are in our inner circle and keeping healthy boundaries with those who think they know better what you should do than you do yourself. While all of this is going on, we have the wounded healer Chiron taking a temporary step backward into Pisces, where it has been since 2011. So this makes a good time for forgiveness and compassion, as well as letting ourselves open up to a higher vision that emanates from our spiritual center.
Early Wednesday morning the Moon moves into brooding Scorpio. This is a time where we need to be careful not to get swept away by irritability, mood-swings, hysteria, big and small excitements, and a sudden desire to quickly change everything. People tend to become more conscious of self and others and see everything in dark tones with the Moon in Scorpio. It can be a time for healing as we destroy the roots of a disturbance in our life. We also have Mercury joining the Moon in Scorpio today and under this sign, we can find superficial conversations downright annoying. We are more drawn to deep focused research. Mercury makes an opposition to Uranus today, so we will also need to be flexible because Uranus can throw curve balls and surprises our way. Lastly, we have a challenging square between Venus and Mars, which makes it not such a good time for having those difficult relationship conversations.
On Thursday we have Mercury making a challenging square to the Lunar North Node. This is a transit where we can feel compelled to do a 360 about where we have been headed on our life’s path. It’s a good idea to keep a low profile today and not decide to just up and abandon your current life’s path! It’s more a matter of us being challenged to see that path more clearly. In the wee hours of Friday morning, the Moon will go Void of Course and then move into Sagittarius before Noon. Sagittarius brings us a sense of peace and stability and we tend to become a bit more orderly and calm, are ready to follow routines and rules and have a need for giving and receiving advice and recommendations. It’s also a good vibe for social activities and parties. We also have the Sun in a challenging square with Pluto, and this will call upon our inner strength as we find our desires clashing with our current circumstances and the demands of others. It can definitely be a time of challenge, feeling our sense of purpose, direction, and identity blocked in this way and adding to the energy of the Mercury/Lunar Node challenge. Last up is a sextile between Mercury and Saturn, a supportive transit that can help us to bring mental and disciplinary influences together to create a balanced atmosphere for working together. Our focus is on bettering situations around us so it makes a good time for taking stock of what needs to be corrected or adjusted in our lives.
Saturday is a quiet one in the skies for us, which is good after the mix of energies we have had over the past couple of days. We are still under the effects of the optimistic Sagittarius Moon though, so use that to get out and have a bit of fun. In the early hours of Sunday morning, the Moon will go Void of Course and remain that way until the evening, when it shifts into Capricorn, where our emotional charge seems to decrease as our feelings of duty and responsibility move to the fore. This can be a very sober influence–even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the face. Some of the things we are drawn to do under a Capricorn Moon are meeting with clients or collaborators; putting together a proposal; considering investments; acting or speaking with authority; working with a mentor or “mentee”; upholding a long-standing tradition; taking control of a situation.
