What’s New This Month

Here we are once more at the cusp of another year gone by and a new one beginning.  The coming year looks to be one that we will remember because we will all experience a shift in our beliefs, attitudes and the very structure of our lives in transition. The start of January sees ambitious Mars pushing hard to bring the expansive ideas of Jupiter into reality. The later half of January through February has a couple of eclipses that will give us perspective on our lives since we had eclipses that occurred in the opposite signs last August. So, be prepared to be pulled apart to be re-integrated in a new and innovative way!

As we come to the close of the old year I always make a point of looking back at where I was this time last year. And I am always amazed at just how much I have done and learned.

As we start moving into the colder and darker days of winter, many of us start to feel a bit down, tired, or overwhelmed. Darker days can often create a feeling of melancholy. That is why its so important to do things that bring warmth to your environment and your spirit. Pampering yourself in little ways, focusing on crafts or projects in the house you may not have had time for, or taking stock of what you have done and what you wish to do in the coming year; all of these are ways to perk things up a bit.

The New Year is always a good time for looking ahead, making changes, and letting go of the old from last year. And it’s a great time to have a New Year Outlook Reading to help get a glimpse of what is ahead for you this year. You can find my special New Year’s readings in the  Monthly Specials  section this month, along with a few other inspirational readings to help bring balance into your life, such as the Spiritual Journey and the Fool’s Journey readings for those who are looking to start off in a new direction. So be sure to stop by and have a look at the September specials! You can have a browse through the many specialized readings I offer on the  Tarot Readings page.  Tarot’s Life Path & Personal Growth section is a good place to start!  Or take a wander through the various Oracle readings on my site, like Rune, Angel, Faery and Animal Totem readings.  All of these categories can be found on the main Reading Room page.  Don’t forget to check out the other areas on the Readings page, like the Oracles, Rune and Animal Medicine Cards sections.

If you have a website or blog that you need some creative content writing for, I offer my services as a freelance writer.  You can check out my basic prices at Faery Scribe.  I’ve written for several sites, such as Natural News, Jules of the Earth, Hirewriters and a number of private clients.

In the Reiki/Energy Work section you can find reiki and energy work to help give you a bit of a boost. You can find Reiki sessions, Chakra Healing and Attunements, Violet Flame healing, and the Avalon Crown of Success healing. Reiki is great for flushing out the old energies that may be lingering both in our own energetic bodies and the environment around us.

Week Ahead – Monday January 1st through Sunday January 7th

  • Posted on December 31, 2017 at 7:00 am

Happy Sunday all and Happy New Years Eve! Hard to believe yet another year has flown by and a new one is at our door. 2018 will be bringing a time of changes that we won’t forget because we will all experience a shift in our beliefs, attitudes and the very structure of our lives in transition. The start of January sees ambitious Mars pushing hard to bring the expansive ideas of Jupiter into reality. The latter half of January through February has a couple of eclipses that will give us perspective on our lives since we had eclipses that occurred in the opposite signs last August. So, be prepared to be pulled apart to be re-integrated in a new and innovative way! That said, the year ends with a Gemini Moon, which means a lot of talk tonight. Short, quick parties, maybe going from one place or person to another is good for this energy. Whatever you decide to do, stay safe and enjoy the evening’s festivities. Now, let’s see what this first week of 2018 has in store for us!

Monday, New Years Day, is our Cancer Full Moon. The Full Moon is the best time for doing work on letting go of the old and releasing the negative. The restlessness of the Gemini Moon gives way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet today as the Moon moves into Cancer. So today could be a day for sticking close to home, having some quiet time with those near and dear for the first day of the New Year.

Tuesday is the day that the planet Uranus turns Direct after its 4-month retrograde cycle. This can bring a turning point in any situations that involve freedom, breaking free from old patterns and situations, expressing our uniqueness, and rebelling. Things may feel a wee bit chaotic for a week up to and after this transit. But what revolutionary Uranus really wants is to clear the way for new growth and manifestation in our lives. So expect the unexpected at this time because this influence will be working through the next 8 months. We also have a sextile between the Sun and Neptune today, a transit that illuminates our intuition and gives us faith in the blessings around us. We tend to feel like we are flowing more easily with life as solutions appear all by themselves. It’s a good transit for pursuing mystical and spiritual matters, which is where our thoughts seem to drift at this time. If you have been feeling a bit out of tune or disconnected with the Universe/Divine, the energy of this transit can help you to reconnect again. Lastly, we have a challenging square between Mars and the North Lunar Node. This is a transit that we can feel for a couple of weeks. It may seem as if the actions that we are taking to deal with our current situations and circumstances is at cross purposes to what we perceive as our higher purpose or our best direction on our life’s path. We may feel as though we are at odds with those around us now, or feel as if we are just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The best way to deal with this is to try to balance our passions and impulse with a bit of mindful awareness.

Wednesday sees the Moon shift into heart opening Leo, where we feel more energetic and optimistic. We feel like we can do anything! We crave compliments and appreciation and are generous with kind words to others. This is a time when we seek attention–when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It’s a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well. This can be an expansive, creative, and even romantic phase, a time you’ll look back on with pride and fondness. We also get some sparky inspiration in the air with a Leo Moon, and we may encourage each other to shine more brightly. Go ahead and hold the stage. Tell a story and make it dramatic. Make some children laugh by being a clown. Tap into your inner thespian, and make all the world your stage!

Thursday brings us a sextile between Venus and Neptune, which can open the flow of artistry, romance, creativity and faith. We find ourselves inspired as our creative Muse comes to the surface. Socially and romantically, this is a time when things seem to run more smoothly and may even seem a bit magical. So it’s important to be clear in your intentions and what you truly want.

Friday morning brings the Moon into practical Virgo, where people tend to become more rational and…you guessed it…practical. It’s not a good time for making any large, risky or important decisions now because we tend to not be tapped into our intuition enough to foresee what the consequences of the future will be. Health matters might come into focus now though and many will be looking to get any health related New Years resolutions kicked into gear. A Virgo Moon always reminds me of Spring cleaning where we de-clutter, make room, open the windows and let the fresh air flow through.

Saturday starts us off with a trine between Mercury and Uranus. With this transit, expect unusual ideas, flashes of insight and seeing unexpected possibilities in old situations. You may find it easier to be open-minded during this time, especially regarding insights that have eluded you before. Your ability to see beyond your usual horizon of perception can bring visionary brainwaves, as well as a fun sense of humour. It’s a great time to do some writing or other forms of self-expression, especially if it’s spontaneous or involving technology. We also have a conjunction between Mars and Jupiter happening, where we tend to feel especially energized and enthusiastic about what we believe in or regarding business ventures. The only challenge today is a square between Mercury and Chiron, which can bring a time where we need to confront the issues in our lives that involve why and how we tend to get hurt by others, how we hurt others, and how healing can now take place in either of these scenarios. Our awareness of this can be due to a conflict in our life, but this can also be a very valuable learning experience for us, more so than usual. Whatever our reasons, this transit can give us the push we need to help steer us in a direction of healing, possibly by showing us why and how the path we have been on is not leading us to where we want to be. If you do start to feel overwhelmed, take some time to yourself from the stress to get grounded and re-centred.

Sunday begins with an early morning Void of Course Moon that will shift into Libra just after Noon. The Moon in Libra creates this feeling of harmony and calm. We find we more easily connect with people, compromise is more likely and conflict less so. It’s a time when we find it easier to understand and relate to others. We tend to be polite and diplomatic, and would rather avoid arguments. Its a good day for pampering ourselves and others so make some time to enjoy those fabulous little things that make you feel special today!

Week Ahead – Monday December 25th through Sunday December 31st

  • Posted on December 24, 2017 at 7:30 am

Happy Sunday and Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you are all ready for Santa’s arrival tonight and the festivities that come with the holiday. Christmas Eve has the Moon in the gentle sign of Pisces, which is a really great energy for spiritual activities. This week will wrap up the year as we ring out the old and ring in the new next Sunday. Now, let’s see what this week has in store for us!
Monday, Christmas Day, sees the love and money planet, Venus, moving into the more practical sign of Capricorn, where she will be until mid-January. This means that Venus will be able to bring her grounded side to the fore. Where both relationships and resources are concerned, now is the time to look at our commitments and make some new plans. We need to consider what is working and what is not and then take steps to change things or balance them out a bit more.  If your relationships have been a bit on the unbalanced and stormy side, this transit will help to bring a bit more stability now. Venus also makes a conjunction with Saturn today, both of which are in Capricorn. This transit blends structure and responsibility with our desire for beauty, pleasure, and material abundance. We may find, under this transit, that we are attracted to people with maturity, worldly wisdom, and a solid sense of values (perhaps an advisor, elder, or teacher), and are disinclined to frivolous activities or wasting our time. We become restrained and careful about spending money during this transit and that’s as it should be, after all the spending we have probably done in the runup to Christmas.
Tuesday sees the Moon begin is shift from dreamy Pisces into fiery Aries. Some may actually feel this shift more than others. An Aries Moon tends to bring conflict more than most times, with emotional tensions growing, people becoming short-tempered and impulsive. Some may show a readiness and fearlessness to act in an extreme situation. Even the sweetest tempered person can become a bit mean under this moon. However, it becomes easier to shake old problem and the weight of tiresome responsibility. We want to free ourselves from everything that bothers us and makes our lives feel uneasy.
Wednesday is a good day for putting some practical effort into your goals and dreams today due to warrior planet Mars interacting with visionary Neptune. Under this transit, our sensuality, creativity and sense of community spirit are stimulated. We may enjoy a strong magnetic attractiveness and sultry charm which makes this an ideal time for passionate romances. Sexual encounters at this time an be strongly compassionate, tender and spiritual in nature. For those who are dating, you are likely to attract a less aggressive, more spiritually inclined partner. We also still have that energizing Aries Moon making us want to be active. Get out for a walk if you can.
Thursday morning sees the Moon move into earthy Taurus, where we feel the tension of the past few days start to drop away. People tend to become calmer and peaceful. We feel secure and stable. There is also this tendency for our thoughts and reactions to slow down, making us feel a bit slow in getting ourselves going. This is the best time for taking care of the home, running errands, restocking supplies and tending to routine maintenance. Its best to hold off on important business now, as well as the signing of contracts or important papers, because we may make mistakes due to a slowed down reaction and thinking process. It’s a good day for purchasing durable goods as well.
Friday brings us a Mercury/North Lunar Node trine, an aspect that brings us a fresher awareness as well as a better ability to communicate that awareness. It is a beneficial resource which can help us to take a few more steps closer towards our life purpose. Just bear in mind that we also need to take action too. We will need to, at some juncture, take into account what we have observed and do something with this.
Saturday morning begins with the Moon moving into Gemini, which is a great energy for running those errands or sending out correspondence, like thank you cards. Under Gemini’s influence, our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and share ideas. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle. It is a good time, however, to be on the move, travelling short distances in order to fulfil that need for new impressions, and meeting up with friends and relative.
Sunday is New Year’s Eve, and the year will be ending with the Moon still in Gemini, which means a lot of talk. Since Gemini usually prefers to do things in short and quick burst, it may mean short parties or moving from one party or person to the next.
Enjoy your Yuletide celebrations!

Week Ahead – Monday December 18th through Sunday December 24th

  • Posted on December 17, 2017 at 7:30 am

Happy Sunday everyone! We’re a week away from Christmas and just under a week till the Winter Solstice/Yule. Life can get a little crazy around this time of year so make sure you are all taking time to rest and do something for yourselves! The Moon is getting ready for its New lunation later today and will be landing right smack in the centre of the black hole that is at the centre of the Milkyway. So what does this mean? Well its a bit speculative but it may be that this is the time to align with our larger galactic self. The Moon is in Sagittarius, which is the sign of generosity, higher philosophy and the expansion of our belief system. We also have Saturn shifting into serious Capricorn in a couple of days so this could mean the foundation of our lives is about to go through a fundamental shift in regard to our priorities. Ok, without further ado, here’s what the coming week has in store for us.

Monday is our Sagittarius New Moon, but the Moon will be changing signs, moving into Capricorn later in the day. In Sagittarius, we get a plethora of abundance, optimism, and a strong desire to free ourselves from those self-limiting beliefs, situations, people, and old attachments that are keeping us stuck in a rut. It’s a good idea to take time and see where your philosophies don’t measure up to your day to day life. When the New Moon enters Capricorn later this afternoon the energies change a bit. In Capricorn, we become aware of the need for structure and planning ahead. We also instinctively are aware of the limitations of time. We are motivated by a desire for success. Achievement and manifestation are most important to us now. We are resourceful and don’t want to waste time, energy, or resources. This can be a very sober influence–even a depressing one. However, it can also be a productive time when we look reality in the face.
Tuesday sees Saturn moving into Capricorn, where it will remain until March 2020. Saturn takes about 28-29 years to come full circle and thus spends on average close to 2-1/2 years in a sign. This move changes the structure of our lives and we will be faced with some serious choices in the coming year. Saturn transits slow life down (or at least, that is how we perceive it) and forces us to live our lives in the present. Although Saturn transits can make life feel like a drudgery (these are often times when our lives seem to move at a snail’s pace and advancements are hard to see), they also give us the opportunity to gain inner strength, to become more responsible for what we do and say, and to cut out waste or excesses in our lives. Basically, what happens is a form of paring or slimming down in the area of life affected by Saturn. We are getting rid of things in our lives that are not working for us in the real world, and focusing on improving and strengthening the things that do serve a useful purpose. Depression can be a byproduct of heavy Saturn transits. However, if we focus our energies on meaningful endeavours without pushing too hard for recognition or support from others, we can fight the inclination towards a gloom-and-doom attitude.
Wednesday brings us a challenging square between Venus and Chiron, where we may find that we are forced to make some adjustments in our relationships or finances. We may find that these areas are not balancing out and coming together as we would want them. That feeling of “cant’ win for losing” could be a familiar one under this transit as we find the more we try, the more we feel we are going round in circles. So, healing in relationships and balancing our finances may seem difficult to obtain as our efforts feel blocked right now. That doesn’t mean you should give up or stop trying though! Venus will also be in a trine with Uranus, where liberation and spontaneity flood into our relationships, resources, finances, and those little pleasures we so enjoy! So this may help balance out the Venus/Chiron square a bit.
Thursday is the Winter Solstice and with these we have fresh energy coming our way for the next 3 months due to the Sun shining on Saturn and the energies still with us from the New Moon. However, we do have to step into a larger role of responsibility in our lives. The Moon will be moving into Aquarius today, which brings us feelings of openness with a sense of inner freedom. Our emotions become more alive and we feel we can express them more freely. What we can’t cope with are limitations being imposed upon us or pressure from others because our main focus is on our inner feelings of independence. We tend to have a sense of emotional coolness or detachment at the personal level, combined with an emphasis on idealism: such is the nature of the cycle we are now entering. We have a tendency to allow ourselves more freedom. We also have the Sun joining the Moon in Capricorn, so Happy Solar Return to all of you lovely Capricorns! Lastly, there is that conjunction between the Sun and Saturn I just mentioned. While Sun transits are usually brief ones, usually lasting about a day, the Sun’s energy acts to signify the issues and conditions surrounding the planet that it is transiting. It’s a good day for tackling projects that require a lot of detail. Just make sure you don’t let yourself get too bogged down in the details or you may end up slowing yourself down even more. Focus on what is important for now and use the day for setting up a plan for your more long-term goals.
Friday is the day that Mercury turns direct. Keep in mind that situations will still feel a bit slow going until Mercury has picked up speed and resumes its normal momentum. Its akin to feeling like we are coming out of a fog in some instances. Remember what I said about paying attention to what was going on during its first trip in Sagittarius? As Mercury moves forward we may start to revisit these situations but with a different perspective than before. Refocusing, readjusting, freedom and independence – these are the things Mercury in Sagittarius will bring.
Saturday starts off with a Void of Course Moon mid-morning that will move into mystical Pisces in the early afternoon. A Pisces Moon can bring about feelings of romance, heightened intuition, mystical and dreamy moods, and an interest in the unknown, religion and all that is magical. We tend to become softer, sentimental and more tender, speaking words of kindness and complimenting those we love. We also tend to have this deeper understanding of the hidden meaning of life, events and things, as well as a more intimate perception of beauty, art, poetry and music. On a negative side, it can be harder to deal with the harsher aspects of reality during these lunar days. We may escape with one more drink, or “check out” in front of the television. It’s easy to coast through the day when you’re dreamy or “lost.” It helps to have some creative focus, in order not to flounder in the sign of the Fishes.
Sunday, Christmas Eve, brings us a square between Jupiter and the North Lunar Node. Jupiter represents our expansive qualities and our abilities to improve ourselves. It is a planet of abundance and seeks insight through knowledge. It is the planet of possibility. In our chart, Jupiter reveals how we express our sense of giving and tolerance and how we go about improving our lives. The North Node represents what we are striving or aiming for in this lifetime. It’s our life lesson, our destiny and our major area of learning. In order to reach our North Node destination, we will have to step out of our comfort zone. When Jupiter and the North Node are in a challenging position it means that our religious, educational and moral values become conflicted with societal expectations. It can be difficult adjusting to social institutions during this time though.

Week Ahead – Monday December 11th through Sunday December 17th

  • Posted on December 10, 2017 at 7:30 am
Happy Sunday everyone! We’re really getting some serious winter weather over here. Bundle up and stay warm! Today we have some Mercury/Uranus energy affecting us so some of you may find yourselves overthinking, and some may have a whirlwind of ideas floating around your head. Write those ideas down while you can though because spacey Neptune will be joining these two and can make those sharp ideas dissolve rather quickly. Let’s see what this week has in store for us now.
Monday starts off with an early morning Void of Course Moon that quickly shifts into balancing Libra before mid-morning. The Moon in Libra creates this feeling of harmony and calm. We find we more easily connect with people, compromise is more likely and conflict less so. It’s a time when we find it easier to understand and relate to others. We tend to be polite and diplomatic, and would rather avoid arguments. Creating order is also the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. We tend to solve problems through diplomacy, and we are more able to put aside our own emotions in order to achieve the peace we crave. The tendency now is to avoid direct confrontations. Decisions do not come easily. Seeing both sides of any given situation is the main reason for hesitation. Fear of losing others’ approval is another.
Tuesday marks the halfway point of Mercury’s retrograde cycle that began on December 2nd. This means its time to start thinking about future projects and working on those. Just make sure you leave room for any changes or tweaks later on. We also have a conjunction between the Sun and Mercury, where we feel more compelled to communicate; letters, memos, phone calls, texts…messages of all kinds have a stronger impact under this aspect than usual. We may find that we acquire and distribute information quite accurately. Some may choose to take some short trips now to keep themselves, and their minds, busy. However, because of the varied interests we have right now, we may find it hard to rest or find the time to do it
Wednesday brings an afternoon Void of Course Moon that quickly shifts into brooding Scorpio, where emotional charge and sensitivity increases. It’s a time where we need to be careful not to get swept away by irritability, mood-swings, hysteria, big and small excitements, and a sudden desire to quickly change everything. People tend to become more conscious of self and others and see everything in dark tones with the Moon in Scorpio. It can be a time for healing as we destroy the roots of a disturbance in our life. We crave deeper conversation, and we want to get to the root of issues. Learning what makes people tick is something we can be really drawn to. But be careful that you don’t start pushing buttons or try to force others to confront their own demons. One thing to avoid though is manipulative tactics, brooding, and suspiciousness. We tend to be more drawn towards the darker side of ourselves too under this sign. Done wisely, we can get to the source of issues and create the seeds of new transformation to happen.
Thursday brings us a trine between love planet Venus and the North Lunar Node. Under this transit, our charm, beauty and social graces are more refined and can work to further our career and ambitions by winning the favour of important and influential people. This trine grants us adaptability and adaptation, obligingness, a pleasant and engaging personality. It can focus on the stage of entering into a love-union, the preference for associating oneself with artistic friends, and brings an overall affectionate and warm-hearted vibe our way.
Friday is a good day for talking about any relationship needs due to a conjunction between Mercury and Venus. This is a transit that is marked by receptive awareness, positive social connections, and diplomatic communication. That means having to negotiate any contracts, agreements, or mutual plans will go a lot more smoothly because all parties are focused on mutual balance to achieve an outcome that benefits all. We also have a bit of a challenging square between the Sun and Chiron. When these two planets come together in a challenging position we tend to find our patience and confidence feels a bit strained as we feel a need to break free of chronic constraints. Motivation and self-esteem can drop as well today.
Saturday brings a highly social vibe for the weekend, making it a great time for parties. The Moon will move into Sagittarius in the wee hours of the morning, bringing some peace and stability. The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don’t want to plan ahead, and prefer to “wing it”. With this is a trine between the Sun and Uranus, which tends to make us feel more open to being spontaneous and just going with the flow with no real plan. And this can be liberating for many.
Sunday brings us a trine between Mercury and the North Lunar Node. This aspect brings us a fresher awareness as well as a better ability to communicate that awareness. It is a beneficial resource which can help us to take a few more steps closer towards our life purpose. Just bear in mind that we also need to take action too. We will need to, at some juncture, take into account what we have observed and do something with this.

Week Ahead – Monday December 4th through Sunday December 10th

  • Posted on December 3, 2017 at 7:30 am

Happy Sunday everyone! Looks like we’ve had a wintry start to December for many and fold are already talking about a white Christmas. We shall see what lady Winter brings us I guess! Today we are under the influence of a Gemini Full Moon and the Sagittarius Sun, and the air and fire elements are particularly strong right now, bringing a passion to our ideas. This is also a great combo for those early holiday parties. We do have a challenge coming from Neptune for this Full Moon, an energy that stimulates us to open up our creative imagination to a higher and newer vision. However, this energy can also get us lost in unrealistic fantasy thinking. So make sure you take some extra time to research any big ideas, investments or romances before jumping straight in. Now, let’s have a look at what this first week of December has in store for us!

Monday evening brings us a brief Void of Course Moon before we feel the restlessness of the Gemini Moon giving way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet as the Moon moves into Cancer. Under Cancer’s influence, people become more sensitive and go deeper into their inner world, which takes on more importance at this time than the outer world. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Quite often, when the Moon is in Cancer, we all become homebodies. We want to retreat to the place we feel most at home. This can bring out a sense of “homesickness” if we’re far from home, or estranged from others. It may be a time, then of reaching out to those that know us best.

Tuesday sees the Wounded Healer, Chiron turning direct after its long retrograde cycle. Chiron’s influence will be subtle now, as we start to externalise our vulnerability, but this isn’t about complaining and playing the victim; it’s a way of sharing feelings that encourages closeness and compassion without descending into self-pity. While on a spiritual level suffering may seem like a noble thing, we do run the risk of becoming stuck in our own pain and suffering and not allowing healing and growth to occur. A healthy perspective to have during this transit is to not treat suffering as an ending, rather as a symptom that is meant to motivate and inspire us to heal and end our suffering. Some of us who work in healing or have an energy that attracts the wounded may find they are attracting more than usual now. If you choose to take up this challenge as a healer, be sure that you are protecting your own energy and not becoming part of each persons’ individual suffering by drawing in the energies of those you are helping!

Wednesday afternoon brings a Void of Course Moon that will remain there until this evening when it shifts into heart opening Leo, where we feel more energetic and optimistic. The Moon in Leo speaks to our “inner child”. It’s a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. This Moon brings a cheery vibe, making it easier to be lifted out of the doldrums. Its a good time for presentations, celebrations and social events. You might want to leave the day open, and let your spontaneous mischievous child inside lead the way. Mercury is busy today as well, with a conjunction with Saturn and a sextile with Mars. The Mercury/Saturn conjunction is a good time for taking a serious look at the circumstances and situations in our lives. It’s not a very upbeat energy but it’s a great energy to tap into when you need to take an objective, detached, clear view of life. The Mercury/Mars sextile brings us the potential to dig down and find the courage needed to speak our minds and stand up for ourselves and what we feel is right. This is a time when our ideas and words come so swiftly that we may find it hard to stop them from coming out before we have had a chance to think about the best way to present them. It’s an opportune transit for some creative problem solving and testing out our decisions to see if they will fit into our plans and goals. Lastly, we have a sextile between Mars and Saturn, which makes it a good time for appreciating our determined effort and actions. Our work projects tend to run more smoothly now if we combine a patient and disciplined approach with confidence and courage.  We may feel that our energy levels are a bit more toned down right now but this will be helpful for the detailed work we may have to do.

Thursday is a quiet one in the skies, giving us more time to focus on work and personal projects. Friday brings us a trine between the Sun and North Lunar Node, a transit that can make us feel confident, optimistic and empowered. Some may feel its energy a couple of days before and after this date. It could feel as if the pieces of the puzzle in any given situation, are just falling into place, allowing us to make progress in what we’re striving to do in our lives right now. We do need to be a bit cautious, however. Even though it feels like we can go forward we still need a bit of a reality check on the wisdom of what we want to do to be sure its still a good idea. Later this evening the Moon will briefly go Void of Course before moving into Virgo before midnight. So this practical energy will be with us for the weekend, making it a good time for holiday planning down to the small details.

Saturday is the day that Mars moves signs, going into deep feeling Scorpio, where it will remain until late January. What this helps us with is pushing through problems in situations we are passionate about. In Scorpio, Mars is driven and focused on getting what it wants. We become persevering, single-minded, and strong. We tend to be less inclined to avoid important issues now. In some ways, we are attracted to crisis, as we see crisis as transformative and emotionally exciting. We would rather feel extreme emotions than nothing at all, as mediocrity or the “middle road” is felt to be unsatisfying. We just need to keep things in balance and not go overboard with the depth of emotions this time can bring our way.

Sunday is a busy one for Mercury and Venus. We have a Mercury/Uranus trine, bringing a mental shift that many can feel. Under this transit, we can experience unusual ideas, flashes of insight and seeing unexpected possibilities. It’s much easier to be open-minded right now, especially about insights that have eluded us. Our ability to see beyond our normal horizon of perception can bring visionary brainwaves, “Aha!” moments, as well as a fun side to our sense of humour. This is a great time to do some writing or other forms of self-expression, especially if it’s spontaneous or involving technology. We also have a challenging square between Mercury and Chiron, which can make our mental focus and perceptions feel a bit strained at times. It can be all too easy to do a bit of fence sitting as we feel unable to make choices and decisions. On the other hand, this transit could bring your mental perspective to a kind of “healing crisis” that forces you to get a better grip on the ideas, communication and frame of mind that have been problematic for you. Again, try to keep things in balance.

Then we have Venus and Neptune squaring off today, where those areas that Venus rules, such as relationships, resources, pleasure and money are subject to deception, confusion and wishful thinking that is unrealistic. It can be all too easy for imagination and fantasy to fog our judgment and create romantic confusion. For example, we find that something we thought we had (resources, love, friendship, money) has suddenly become undependable or has up and disappeared. Feeling disillusioned, disappointed, alone or depressed can come with this transit. However, try to keep in mind that this may just be a passing phase and not a more serious crisis at this time.
