Week Ahead – Monday July 31st through Sunday August 6th

  • Posted on July 30, 2017 at 7:30 am

Happy Sunday everyone! This coming week begins a fresh new month for us. August will be bringing us both a lunar and a solar eclipse, another retrograde cycle for Mercury, and Saturn ending its current Retrograde, which should help those of us who have been feeling sluggish and stuck since April finally being able to move forward. For today, we are still under the influence of a Scorpio Moon, making some of us feel like withdrawing a bit. Let’s have a look at what this coming week has in store for us!

Monday sees an afternoon Void of Course Moon, which is good for tending to current projects but not so good for starting any new ones. Venus, the planet of love and finances, moves into nurturing Cancer, which tends to bring harmony to the home, family and projects. The love planet feels warm and caring in Cancer and we tend to feel a sense of safety in familiar places. We also become protective of what is close to us and what makes us feel secure, such as finances, possessions, and resources. One things to be aware of is the need to be able to be kind but not clingy.

Tuesday brings the Moon into Sagittarius just after noon. We tend to become a bit more orderly and calm, are ready to follow routines and rules and have a need for giving and receiving advice and recommendations. We may find a increase in our interests in social life and where we fit in.

Wednesday is a quiet one in the skies, but still a good time for socializing. Thursday is the day that Uranus starts its Retrograde cycle in the sign of Aries. Uranus going retrograde is often a turning point in situations involving issues of spontaneity, freedom, breaking free of old patterns, rebellion and expressing your personal uniqueness. It could feel a bit chaotic or erratic at times, or spontaneous and exciting, for up to a week before and after this date as well. Look at where Uranus falls in your own natal Chart to clue you in on where these disruptions will occur. The Moon will be Void of course a couple of hours before midnight.

Friday sees the Moon moving into Capricorn in the wee hours. In Capricorn our emotional charge seems to decrease as our feelings of duty and responsibility move to the fore. We tend to become more practical and logical, as well as more demanding and less sensitive to others and ourselves. We also have a challenging square between Jupiter and Pluto, a transit that pushes us to really want to succeed in whatever it is we are focused on, be it career, a project or personal goals. We do need to be careful that we don’t exceed out limits though, or appear to be overbearing in the process. Its a transit that can encourage us to be more assertive and less compromising.

Saturday is another quiet day in the skies, but we still have that Capricorn energy to tap into if we want to focus on practical projects. Sunday sees a mid-morning Void of course Moon, which then moves into Aquarius in the early afternoon. When the Moon is in Aquarius it brings us feelings of openness with a sense of inner freedom. Our emotions become more alive and we feel we can express them more freely. What we can’t cope with are limitations being imposed upon us or pressure from others because our main focus is on our inner feelings of independence. So, try to get out and do something new, break up your usual routine for a bit.

Week Ahead – Monday July 24th through Sunday July 30th

  • Posted on July 23, 2017 at 7:30 am

Happy Sunday everyone! We are wrapping up the last full week of July already. Today we have our Leo New Moon and a day that is packed with action because this New Moon is aligned with Mars, who also moved into Leo a week ago. So we have this increasing amount of fire energy that will be building up towards a total Solar Eclipse in Leo next month. Its a great energy for play, fun, taking on leadership roles, and passion. This is a time when we will get help getting through any challenges, however, we also need to be aware of when to let go. Its an energy that can be both stubborn and generous. So, use this energy well! Now, lets have a look at what this week will bring us.

Monday brings an odd mix of energies. We have Venus and Saturn in an opposition, which can bring feelings of loneliness and sadness as a result of delays and limitations we feel are affecting our love life and finances. Its not a good time for socializing, so we should make preparations for some alone time. For those that are prone to depression, it may be a low couple of days for you. If you’re normally a cheerful person, it may be best to not fight the blues and let things ride themselves out. We also have a trine happening between Mercury and Uranus, a mentally stimulating transit that could easy the more oppressive energies of the Venus/Saturn opposition. With this transit, expect unusual ideas, flashes of insight and seeing unexpected possibilities in old situations. You might also find the clarity and vision that gives you the words to speak your truth with new conviction. It’s a great time to do some writing or other form of self-expression, especially if it’s spontaneous or involving technology.

Tuesday sees the Moon going Void of Course mid-morning before moving into Virgo, where people tend to become more rational and practical. Its the small details that seem to be more important to us now, in some cases more than they are in reality, which can lead to arguments over what seems like insignificant little things. We do become more disciplined and responsible, careful and diligent, but only with those small details. Its not a good time for making any large, risky or important decisions now because we tend to not be tapped into our intuition enough to foresee what the consequences of the future will be. Mercury will be joining the Moon in Virgo as well. When the communications’ planet enters the analytical sign of Virgo, precision in speech, thought, and process becomes important to us. This is a time when we analyse and decide what is useful and what we deem to be impractical. Mercury feels right at home in Virgo, one of the signs that it rules. This is also a time when those more neurotic tendencies can reign supreme so we really need to keep our wits about us.

Wednesday brings us a sextile between Venus and the North Lunar Node, where our charisma and charm tends to shine a little brighter. we tend to be more receptive to others and what they have to offer. Its a time where we may discover resources that we didn’t realize we had too. Its a good energy for going on a date, socializing, negotiating agreements or make strategic plans with others. We also have a conjunction between the Sun and Mars today, where we tend to feel as if we have energy to burn. This effect will be with us for the next day or two and some may find themselves feeling quite restless, unable to sleep, and needing to feel as if they are “doing” something.

Thursday begins with a Void of Course Moon that will move into balancing Libra in the afternoon. The Moon in Libra creates this feeling of harmony and calm. We find we more easily connect to people, compromise is more likely and conflict less so. Its a time when we find it easier to understand and relate to others. We tend to be polite and diplomatic, and would rather avoid arguments. Creating order is also the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment.

Friday and Saturday are both quiet days in the skies, but the energies in play now are great for socializing and enjoying the company of those we feel most connected and balanced around. This changes on Sunday when the Moon moves into brooding Scorpio, where emotional charge and sensitivity increases. Its a time where we need to be careful not to get swept away by irritability, mood-swings, hysteria, big and small excitements, and a sudden desire to quickly change everything. People tend to become more conscious of self and others, and see everything in dark tones with the Moon in Scorpio. It can be a time for healing as we destroy the roots of a disturbance in our life. Done wisely, we can get to the source of issues and create the seeds of new transformation to happen. We also have a challenging square between Venus and Chiron, where we may find that we are forced to make some adjustments in our relationships or finances. We may find that these areas are not balancing out and coming together as we would want them. That feeling of “can’t’ win for losing” could be a familiar one under this transit as we find the more we try, the more we feel we are going round in circles. While just giving in may seem the easier route, it won’t get past the core issues. Lastly, we have a sextile between Venus and Uranus. This is an unpredictable transit and can feel quite exciting for the social aspects of our lives. Anything that breaks away from our routines will feel like a very welcome change. Just be careful that you don’t allow boredom to push you towards doing anything too reckless.

Week Ahead – Monday July 17th through Sunday July 23rd

  • Posted on July 16, 2017 at 7:30 am

Happy Sunday! We are moving into the second half of July now and today is under the influence of that active Aries Moon, so getting out and moving around is a good way to get rid of any extra energy. Its also the last quarter phase of the Moon, where its a good time for cleaning up or completing projects started from the last New Moon back on June 24th. Let’s take a look at what this week has in store for us!

Monday starts us off with a brief Void of Course Moon that moves into productive Taurus as we begin our day. When the Moon moves into Taurus, we feel the tension of the past few days start to drop away. People tend to become calmer and peaceful. We feel secure and stable. There is also this tendency for our thoughts and reactions to slow down, making us feel a bit slow in getting ourselves going. This is the best time for taking care of the home, running errands, restocking supplies and tending to routine maintenance. Its best to hold off on important business now,as well as signing of contracts or important papers, because we may make mistakes due to a slowed down reaction and thinking process. We also have a challenging square between Venus and Neptune, and Mars and Uranus. With the Venus/Neptune transit, Venus is wanting to gracefully ease into the day, where Neptune just wants to stay in bed and keep dreaming. The Mars/Uranus transit is a more difficult combo because it brings impatient energies and unexpected surprises. Some really erratic action and unpredictable impulses can surface under this transits energy.

Tuesday brings a much happier energy our way with Venus and Jupiter in a harmonious trine. Its a transit that draws support to us and where we feel we are finally getting a break in our lives for the better. Its also considered a very lucky energy, so buy those lottery tickets! However, we do need to be careful that we don’t let that go to our heads and over indulge or fall into feelings of complacency under this transit. We also have a trine between Mars and Chiron today. During this transit you may find yourself being more assertive in your own healing processes. It will be a bit easier now to move past any inhibition that stop you from being assertive, expressing anger or frustration, or in putting things into action.

Wednesday continues with this harmonious energy, but in a more grounded way, with Mercury in a trine with Saturn. This energy will help to bring those big ideas we had yesterday down to earth to be applied pragmatically. We also have a brief Void of Course Moon as we begin our morning before it moves into the sign of the twins. When the Moon is in Gemini we become active, feel stronger emotional sensitivity and a need for socializing. We also have the tendency to fall under influences that can lead to the danger of getting of course and making mistakes. We tend to buy things that we don’t really need, waste time with contacts that are futile, and visit unnecessary places and events. Emotions may become amplified but shallow. We may easily meet new people now, however half of the contacts we make will later turn out to be empty. Some of us will try to do everything all at once, which later leaves us stuck with unfinished projects and ideas.

Thursday is when we see Mars move into a new sign, Leo, where it will be until the start of September. Fire meets fire with this transit and Mars feels right at home in Leo, where creativity, confidence and charisma flourish. Remember, Leo is our inner child and children often cry out for attention…so make sure you are paying attention to yours.  Emotional and physical energy can run high right now so this transit is a great time for any work that requires drama, courage, creativity, and confidence. If you are one who usually blends into the woodwork and find it hard to express yourself openly, then this energy can give you that boost of courage, motivation, and inspiration you need to break free of whatever holds you back. We also have a challenging square between the Sun and Uranus today. Under this challenging transit our world can experience some shake-ups as the Universe decides its time for change and time to make things a bit more “interesting.” This is our wake-up call folks and it is designed to loosen us up from old habits and cycles that keep us stuck or inhibited in life. So if you are looking to break some old habits in your life or break away from current restrictions, this is the best time to do it! Just bear in mind that it could also create a bit of a mess that you will have to contend with later.

Friday brings us a morning Void of Course Moon, but a few hours later we will feel the restlessness of the Gemini Moon giving way to an instinctive need for peace and quiet as the Moon moves into Cancer. Under Cancer’s influence people become more sensitive and go deeper into their inner world, which takes on more importance at this time than the outer world. A feeling of belonging and safety is what motivates us under this influence. The Moon feels right at home in the sign of Cancer, as it rules the sign. This Moon position has much healing potential. Although insular by nature, our feelings run deep, making it an ideal time to get in touch with what motivates us. We want roots; we crave a sense of intimate connection that will. We have a trine between the Sun and Chiron as well, where we will start to see any recent efforts we have been making to mend and heal start to come together. Lastly, we have a conjunction between Mercury and the North Lunar Node. Mercury is all about communication, travel, technology…all the ways in which we can reach out to others or express ourselves. We are given the chance to express our communicate our destiny.

Our weekend starts with the Sun moving into Leo, so Happy Solar Return to all of you Leo’s out there! The Sun’s entry into Leo encourages us to make more time for play but we first need to clear up some of our responsibilities to make that time. The influence of this Fire Sign is electric — it can invigorate the most indifferent among us with its jolt of self-confidence and vibrant energy. We all benefit from the theatrical aspect of Leo: By playing the role of bold, confident individual, we begin to feel like the bold, confident individual, absorbing into our new character like a great method actor. Its a good energy for a sociable and fun weekend.

Sunday sees the Moon joining the sun in Leo, where we feel more energetic and optimistic. We feel like we can do anything! We crave compliments and appreciation, and are generous with kind words to others. This Moon brings a cheery vibe, making it easier to be lifted out of the doldrums. Its a good time for presentations, celebrations and social events. You might want to leave the day open, and let your spontaneous mischievous child inside lead the way. There’s a lure to colourful, special places like museums, food fairs and festivals and glamorous high end boutiques. It’s a mood heightened by spectacles like parades, costume parties and children’s theme parties. There’s delight in playing make-believe under this Moon, above the mundane of life. it is also our New Moon tonight. In Astrology the New Moon is seen as a time for fresh starts and new beginnings. But in spell working the New Moon is also a time for getting rid of what is not wanted in our lives. It can be a time for reversing spells cast by another or used for warding and banishing work negative energies. I like to do a good home and chakra cleaning using reiki and some sage smudge sticks.

Week Ahead – Monday July 10th through Sunday July 16th

  • Posted on July 9, 2017 at 7:30 am

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope everyone is the USA enjoyed their 4th of July. We are entering the second week of this new month and today we are under the influence of the Capricorn Full Moon. A Capricorn Full Moon calls us to balance our needs and take back our power. We also have an opposition between the Sun and Pluto. All of this asks us to look at how well we are balancing responsibility with nurturing. Its a day for steering clear of people who are obsessive-compulsive and we need to look at how we may be giving our own power away and how to regain that back. It may be time to establish some new and better boundaries. The rest of this week is an easy flowing one, so see what’s in store for us!

Monday starts off with a Void of Course Moon that will shift into Aquarius as we begin our busy morning. Its a good time for sharing our higher ideals, as well as working with others who may have a different life view or philosophy than us. When the Moon is in Aquarius it brings us feelings of openness with a sense of inner freedom. Our emotions become more alive and we feel we can express them more freely. What we can’t cope with are limitations being imposed upon us or pressure from others because our main focus is on our inner feelings of independence. We tend to have a sense of emotional coolness or detachment at the personal level, combined with an emphasis on idealism: such is the nature of the cycle we are now entering. We have a tendency to allow ourselves more freedom.

Tuesday is a quiet one in the skies, but this is an easy to work with week for us, so we should be able to just get into our own groove and keep moving along. Wednesday sees the Moon going Void of Course in the early afternoon, and then moving into Pisces in the later part of the afternoon. A Pisces Moon can bring about feelings of romance, heightened intuition, mystical and dreamy moods, and an interest in the unknown, religion and all that is magical. We tend to become softer, sentimental and more tender, speaking words of kindness and complimenting those we love. We also tend to have this deeper understanding of the hidden meaning of life, events and things, as well as more intimate perception of beauty, art, poetry and music.

Thursday is another quiet and mellow day to work with. Friday brings us a sextile between Mercury and Jupiter, where we find that we not only have loads of ideas but also have the words needed to express them. Putting all of those facts, ideas and thoughts into one cohesive stream becomes much easier and we may also find that we understand the big picture, the overall patterns in life’s everyday situations. Our minds flow with the possibilities before us and we have that sense of optimism needed to bring these ideas into the real world, if we apply ourselves and make a bit of effort. Now is the time for playing with those ideas and having a bit of fun as we do.

Saturday sees the energy changing when the Moon moves into fired up Aries in the pre-dawn hours. Some may actually feel this shift more than others. An Aries Moon tends to bring conflict more than most times, with emotional tensions growing, people becoming short-tempered and impulsive. Some may show a readiness and fearlessness to act in an extreme situation. Even the sweetest tempered person can become a bit mean under this moon. However, it becomes easier to shake old problem and the weight of tiresome responsibility. We want to free ourselves from everything that bothers us and makes our lives feel uneasy. This can be an emotionally cathartic few days. Instead of sidling up to a problem, you can attack it head on. If you’ve been bottling up righteous anger, this Moon gives you the courage to let the truth fly. It brings out the “fight” in everybody. Getting into it with others is always risky, but it provokes change, and sometimes for the better. However, the urgency with this Moon can lead to impulsive acts. You might do some soul searching on what you’d do if you could do anything. Aries is an invincible energy that has an innocent belief that anything is possible.

This Aries energy will be with us through the weekend, so you may want to get out and move your body a bit. Its a good weekend for planning a short trip to just get away from the usual routine. Get out for a walk or hike, or just be active with friends who you can discuss interests with.

Week Ahead – Monday July 3rd through Sunday July 9th

  • Posted on July 2, 2017 at 7:30 am

Happy Sunday everyone and welcome to a new month. We are now at that halfway point of the year and July looks like it will be a bit easier for us energy wise. However, today still has some intense energies brewing with the Moon in Scorpio and an opposition between Mars and “burn your bridges” Pluto. Today is a good day for steering clear of people who are obsessive-compulsive, or at least give them a wider berth so you don’t get caught up in their energy. Tempers can flare today and aggressive action can be in play. Since the Scorpio Moon is a good time for purging and healing, use today as an opportunity to observe what gets triggered inside of you and what kind of interaction triggers those feelings. It can be valuable to use the experience as a way to vent old frustration, work through unresolved anger, and ultimately heal our deeper wounds by letting go of whatever holds us back. Sexual energy can run very high under this transit, so handle it wisely. Now, on to what the rest of this week holds for us!

Monday brings us a short but friendly sextile between Venus and Chiron. This gives us the opportunity to harmonize difficult relationships, and make some progress in our efforts to heal and rebalance, something we will need after all of the intense energy we’ve had these past couple of days. This not only affects relationships but social interactions, our values, finances, health, and spiritual connection. When we become aware of our suffering caused by unrealistic expectations, it leads us towards growth, greater consciousness, true individuality, and a greater capacity for unconditional love. We have a brief moment with this transit to facilitate change in those situations that we feel are still within our control, and to accept and adapt to situations that are out of our sphere of control.

Tuesday brings us a challenging square between Mercury and Uranus. Its a transit that can bring us some flashes of insight that brings fresh clarity to us. The problem is, the answers we receive may not be exactly what we want to hear, because it tends to be things that disrupt our logical views about how things are. Globally, it can be a time where news and info comes out that shakes things up on a larger scale. sometimes this can be a good thing as it outs secrets and pushes people to make change for the better. We also have the planet of love moving into Gemini today, where our curiosity turns to relationships, resources, and finances. This curiosity can motivate us on a social and romantic level as we seek out variety. It makes this a good time for creating strategies for improvement in those areas of our life that Venus controls.

Wednesday is a busy day in the skies, starting off with a Void of Course Moon in the wee hours of the morning. As we begin our activities, the Moon will move into upbeat Sagittarius, which brings a sense of stability and peace our way. We then have Mercury changing signs, from Gemini to Leo today. When communication planet Mercury struts through colourful Leo, our thinking, creativity, and self expression becomes more confident and grand. We want to express so much more than just mere facts and info…we want to tell a story! We may not listen as well as we normally do under Mercury in Leo though. The downside to this aspect is that it can create some unrefined thinking that appears territorial and aggressive. It becomes easier to indulge in a self serving mindset, be egotistical, or just plain over confident. Next up is a trine between Mercury and Chiron. which can open up the door of positive and healing communication with those around us. We can use this transit’s energies to heal negative attitudes while motivating ourselves to change our perspective.

Mercury isn’t the only one busy in the skies today! The Sun sees some action as well with a Sun/Neptune trine and a Sun/Jupiter square. The Sun/Neptune transit stimulates the imagination, which is great for those who work in a creative field because they will find expressing themselves flows easily through their specific artistic outlet. Those that have been feeling the heaviness of depression will find their spirits uplifted, reliving them from the heavier weight of sadness and discouragement that has been felt up till now.   We do need to take care under this transit because the tendency to get lost in daydreaming and fantasizing could draw our focus away from our responsibilities and what needs to be taken care of. The Sun/Jupiter square also adds some enthusiastic and upbeat energies to the mix, where we may feel inspired to expand well beyond our usual boundaries. However, it can also be a challenging time where important lessons could emerge that help to expand the limits of our true beliefs. We do need to take care though because our objectivity and ability to see things in a realistic light can be a bit wonky at this time. Try to keep it balanced and real.

Thursday is a quiet one in the skies, and that’s probably a good thing, as we had a lot of energies to deal with so far this week. Friday beings us a sextile between Mercury and Venus, a beneficial aspect that brings us the possibility of benefiting from our social connections, a more open awareness, and harmonious communication. It doesn’t mean that it will all just fall into our laps though! We still need a bit of effort to make all of this happen. On Friday afternoon the Moon will go Void of Course into the early evening, when it then moves into Capricorn. In Capricorn our emotional charge seems to decrease as our feelings of duty and responsibility move to the fore. We tend to become more practical and logical, as well as more demanding and less sensitive to others and ourselves.

Saturday is still under the influence of the Capricorn Moon, so if you have some projects that need a bit of planning out, us today for that. Sunday is our Capricorn Full Moon, making it a great time for releasing, harvesting, and letting go. A Capricorn Full Moon is about embracing our power and balancing our needs, such as setting better boundaries, practising healthy selfishness (putting your needs first for a change), and raising personal standards that allow you to be more independent. We also have an opposition between the Sun and Pluto, a rocky road for the Sun. This is a transit that can mistrust and power struggles. A battle of wills may surface as our encounters with others seem fraught with power plays and manipulative behaviour. But this is where we can put that Full Moon energy to use, holding on to our power and establishing those boundaries with those who would use and manipulate us. Of course, they may not like having you stand up for yourself, which makes it all the more important to do so!

There is a positive to this transit too though. It can give us the opportunity to empower and assert ourselves in a new way. Tap into that inner strength you’ve been working on. When facing the person or situation in question, make sure you are rooted in your own inner honesty. try to find balance by striving to work together without either being torn down along the way. And don’t let ego create a blockade. We may need to face the fact that what we are fighting our “opponent” over could be a reflection of something about ourselves that we don’t like.
