WEEK AHEAD – Monday, December 21st through Sunday, December 27th

  • Posted on December 20, 2015 at 8:00 am

Happy Sunday everyone! We are now entering the Yule/Christmas week, which is going to be a busy one for many. Please take care and stay safe as you do your shopping and go to your celebrations! Today is a quiet low key kind of say with nothing more than a late evening Void of Course Moon. Use today to rest up before the busy and hectic Yuletide week. Let’s see what the rest of this week has in store for us now.

Monday starts off the Yule/Winter Solstice week, so a Merry Yule to all! In the wee hours of Monday morning the Moon will be moving into the stabilizing sign of Taurus, who likes to do those down to earth things and will be bringing a bit of stability to the current Mercury/Uranus transit that can feel mentally disruptive. This challenging square, which starts off in the early hours of the morning, is known for bringing info that can shake things up as well as bring some clarity. The downside here is that it can also attract people to us that we find are annoying and who tend to have poor boundaries. We also have Mercury in sextile with Chiron, which can bring us an opportunity for thinking and reflecting on our pain, as well as help us to talk about more easily.

On Tuesday the Moon moves into Capricorn, which gives us the opportunity to explore our connection to Mother Earth in a more physical way. We feel more able to manifest our goals and see substantial changes. It’s a time of bringing structure into our lives and setting boundaries that are helpful and nurturing rather than restrictive and binding.

It’s also a time when we prepare for the worst, expecting the best. Then we have an early afternoon Void of Course Moon. It may be a good idea to have an early night or at least rest up, because the next couple of days will have a more active vibe.

In the early hours of Wednesday morning the Moon moves into Gemini, which will be with us through Christmas Eve, creating a variety of fast conversations and short activities. The Moon is the instinctual side of life, so when there’s a lunar Gemini mood, the trickster is afoot. Humour becomes a way of defusing super serious situations. This can also be a period of emotional change: feeling two ways at once without getting too deep into either polarity is possible.

Thursday, Christmas Eve comes and will still be under the effects of the Gemini Moon. It can be a good time for those fun and light hearted celebrations to take place. We have a sextile between Venus and Jupiter that starts in the late morning, and this transit is all about enjoying the little pleasures that life has to offer us. It brings a more cooperative and happy influence to group tasks as we are more considerate of others as they are of us, something we will need doing those last minute tasks for Christmas Day. Cheerfulness and a positive attitude towards relationships are top themes now. Venus also affects financial endeavours and under this transit they are generally successful, as long as they are reasonable. But we do need to be careful that we don’t over indulge under this transits effects…I know, easier said than done when we are dealing with the holiday season’s festivities.

Friday, Christmas Day starts with the Moon moving into nurturing Cancer. In Cancer, we tend to crave a bit of peace and quiet, as well as be with those we feel close to. Just make sure you remember to take little breaks if you are part of a bigger, and noisier gathering with family. The Moon will be Full before midnight and this is a great Moon for times of healing, connecting with those far from us, and for winding down from all of the Christmas chaos.

Saturday starts with a Mercury/Jupiter trine, where we can often find ourselves feeling more talkative and filled with new ideas we are itching to share. This is also another great energy for celebrations, should you continue with the Christmas festivities. However, we have a challenging in the skies from Uranus, the earthquake planet that is well known for shaking things up. Uranus will be slowing down in the skies and changing directions as it turns direct from its retrograde cycle that started in July. Now, the positive side of this energy means that we have the ability to set ourselves free from old patterns in our lives. It allows us to meet new people and take part in groups that are in balance with our own philosophies. However, the downside here is that this explosive planet will be challenging destructive Pluto where relationships are concerned. This can mean make or break time for those relationships that we are ready to let go of.

Our Sunday starts with an early morning Void of Course Moon the shifts into Leo mid-morning. This is a light hearted energy that is warm, generous and loving. Perhaps you can get out and do some fun stuff, let that inner child take charge for a bit. In the late afternoon Mercury will be trine the North Lunar Node, an aspect that brings us a fresher awareness as well as a better ability to communicate that awareness. It is a beneficial resource which can help us to take a few more steps closer towards our life purpose. Just bear in mind that we also need to take action too

WEEK AHEAD – Monday, December 14th through Sunday, December 20th

  • Posted on December 13, 2015 at 11:23 am

Happy Sunday everyone! We’re reaching that halfway point of the month and only 11 more days till Christmas! I haven’t even gotten my tree and lights up yet, never mind getting the shopping done! Our Sunday is a quiet one with nothing more than a Void of Course Moon, which makes this a good day for kicking back and relaxing. So, without further ado, let’s see what the week has in store for us!

By noon on Monday the Moon will be moving into cool Aquarius, making the next couple of days great for fresh ideas. We are drawn to the new and unusual under an Aquarius Moon, as well as an instinctive need to make improvements in our lives. This is a good time for busting out of any situations that feel claustrophobic. We also have the Sun square Jupiter around 3pm(GMT), which brings an upbeat and enthusiastic vibe to things, stimulating us to take on those bigger ideas and projects. Its a good time for challenging ourselves to be open to expansive ideas, but take care that you don’t over extend or commit yourself. Lastly, we have an evening sextile between Mercury and Neptune, where our intuition runs high and we feel inspired. A great time for artistic and literary projects!

Tuesday is a quiet day where we can continue on with any projects that we started on Monday. Wednesday morning starts off with a Void of Course Moon that moves into Pisces by the late afternoon, bringing a mystical and dreamy air to things. Pisces lets us swim in imaginative currents that go beyond the normal limits of space and time. It’s a mood when symbols, music and images convey the messages of the soul. This happens through art, dance, film, photography, theatre and play. It’s a great time to nourish the imagination.

Thursday brings a subtle, yet powerful energy from a Venus-Pluto sextile. Our sense of attraction tends to be stronger under this transit and the focus is on our close, one on one relationships. Venus rules money and love so this can be a good time for either (or both) if the opportunity arises.  We do need to be cautious however that bonding and intimacy don’t flow overboard into domination and obsession. Establishing a balance of power is important so we will need to be sure we are not trying to suppress, overpower, or control the interests of the people we wish to gain a deeper bond with. This can also be a time for financial profit as opportunities with institutions such as banks, the tax man, insurance, or anything that deals with collective funds open up for us.

So far the week has been flowing along rather smoothly..until we get to Friday. So make sure you finish up any important tasks before then. The Sun will be in a challenging square to the North Lunar Node today, which is known for bringing feelings of conflict between our sense of identity and purpose with the lessons we are needing to learn in our lives. It can manifest through situations where we feel we are being forced off course or forced to take a detour that is not as direct as our chosen road. That tends to make people feel uncomfortable but there is usually more to those detours than we realize. If we were to stop panicking over the detour and take some time to really look beneath the surface (whether presently or in retrospect) we will probably discover that this detour is actually assisting our sense of Self. It can bring benefits our way that we would have otherwise passed up or missed had we not taken that detour. Mid afternoon brings another Void of Course Moon that will slip into Aries in the late night. Some may feel that restlessness that Aries brings on and can affect our sleep patterns because we feel we have so much that we can do! This can be an emotionally cathartic few days. Instead of sidling up to a problem, you can attack it head on. If you’ve been bottling up righteous anger, this Moon gives you the courage to let the truth fly. It brings out the “fight” in everybody. Getting into it with others is always risky, but it provokes change, and sometimes for the better.

Saturday brings us a trine between Venus and Chiron, which brings a great opportunity for healing and rebalancing, especially in the areas of relationships, finance, resources and values. If you have been faced with persistent challenges and issues in these areas lately, you will find help from an influx of healing and helpful resources now. Interactions of all kinds, not just relationships, will benefit under this transits nurturing energy because we will find it so much easier to see the beauty and value in others, even those we may dislike or not feel to comfortable around. So use this to strengthen and mend bonds as well as to tackle negotiations where compromises are needed to resolve conflict. We also have a conjunction between Mercury and Pluto, where thoughts, ideas, and communications are more intense and focused and we are more able and motivated to find hidden meanings and to cut to the chase. Efficiency and relevancy become important to us too.

Sunday is another quiet one with nothing more than a Void of Course Moon. This will be a busy shopping weekend for many and there are some things to keep in mind. Aries can make us feel like we have so much to do and not enough time to do it. There is an impatience here as well as an intensity that is ripe for small arguments, irritability, mental overload and minor accidents. So, Saturday is good for being quick, focused and getting to the point of getting our chores done with that fiery energy Aries brings, and Sunday brings us a much needed day for kicking back and resting.

A few people have asked me what the deal is with Void of Course Moon phases, how they can affect us and what we can do, or refrain from doing, during these brief times. We already know that the Moon can affect us on an emotional level, and how they affect us depends on what sign they are in.

A Void of Course Moon is when the Moon is in the process of moving between two zodiac signs, or in the Void. In the Void, the Moon is not quite sure how it feels just yet. And since the Moon rules our emotions, we don’t know how we feel either! We may feel a bit lost, run down, out of sorts or confused. The effects can last from a few seconds to a day or two.

So what does this mean for us? Well, the same way our emotions are tied to the Void, so too are the things we wish to start. Those new starts and tasks, without the zodiac influence of the Moon, can feel like they too have been left in the Void, stagnant and unsure about which way to begin. It is also believed that any activities that we start during a Void of Course Moon will lack the foundation, stability and guidance to get going causing them to drift, face delays and false starts, face unexpected hassles, break down or never reaching that stage of completion.

What to avoid during a Void of Course Moon

With energy feeling off balance, it isn’t a good time for making major decisions or doing anything based on emotional decisions because our perceptions are a bit out of whack. So starting something new, making major decisions or purchased, signing contracts and overall planning, asking for favours, selling something like a house, buying something expensive like a home or new car, starting a job search or applying for a job, making announcements of importance, and starting relationships (some believe it is an ill omen to marry during a Void of Course Moon).

Here is a basic rule to keep in mind when dealing with anything big during a Void of Course Moon: If you are trying to make something happen and want it to be a success, avoid the Void!

It isn’t all negative though. There are some benefits we gain during these Void times. For example, its the best time for taking a break, kicking back and relaxing and pretty much doing anything that doesn’t really need to much of our attention or energy. Some say they sleep much better during these Void periods and intuition is ramped up a few notches. Things like meditation, doing all of those routine tasks like ironing or de-cluttering are good things to tackle. Just think, relaxing tasks or doing tasks that I call “painting the fence” tasks…things that you can do and allow your mind to drift. Its can be a good time for socializing and travelling, if someone else is taking over the driving aspect of the trip.

If there is something that you do not want to happen, acting during the Void of Course Moon can help. Here is an example: You have been avoiding some conflict with another but know that you will eventually have to meet up. Try planning it during a Void of Course. There is a good chance plans will fall through. Meetings at this time are good if you don’t want anything to come out of it, such as dealing with a complaint, or dealing with someone who is threatening legal action, or even that nerve racking appointment with your boss.

Checking to see what periods the Moon will be Void of Course can help you not only plan efficiently and help you to avoid the disappointment of plans not coming to fruition.

If you want to know what days the Moon will be void of course this month, check my newsletter where I have created a chart of the dates, times, and signs the Moon is moving between for the current month. To see the schedule for the months to come, check my VOC page (Soon to be updated for 2016)

WEEK AHEAD – Monday, December 7th through Sunday, December 13th

  • Posted on December 6, 2015 at 1:24 pm

Happy Sunday all and Happy Hanukkah to my Jewish friends out there! We’ve had a wild, wet and windy weekend here in the UK. I hope everyone has made it through safely. My heart goes out to those areas that saw the worst flooding. We had a very social tone to the weekend so far and this will continue into the start of the work week. However, today brings a more edgy vibe with impatient and aggressive Mars making a challenging square to destructive Pluto. Its a tough combo that can result in things breaking down if we try to force them. It also brings out that obsessive-compulsive side to many, so it may be a good idea to just take it easy today and maybe steer clear of those who normally have behavioural issues. We can use this energy in a positive way though if we try, and this can help to take action on those major changes we want to happen in our lives. Just remember…no forcing. We also have a sextile between the Sun and Mars happening that gives us a boost of energy and enthusiasm, which can also aid us in making the effort to make those changes happen. Let’s take a look at what the rest of the week has in store for us.

As we enter the early work week, Monday starts off with a Void of Course Moon that shifts into intense Scorpio before noon. Its a good time for doing those projects that are behind the scenes or require quiet research. We can also use this time for delving deeper and working on some inner healing.

Tuesday brings a challenging square between Mercury and the North Lunar Node, which can compel us to do a complete 360 regarding where we feel we are headed on our life path. Its a time when information or facts turn up that are in total contradiction to what we believed was true or real about our sense of life purpose. Feelings of frustration and impatience with anything or anyone we feel is getting in our way is something to be careful of.

Wednesday morning brings another Void of Course Moon that moves into the more social sign of Sagittarius in the late evening, making the next couple of days a good time for getting together with friends and trying something new, like having dinner at that new restaurant that caught your eye. The Sun is busy today as well, with a trine with Uranus and a square with Chiron. The Sun/Uranus mix helps us to be more open and spontaneous. We do better at going with the flow of things as the day moves on. It an be quite a liberating feeling! The Sun/Chiron mix however, can make out patience and confidence feel somewhat strained. There is a good point to this though, in that it can help us in breaking free from those chronic constraints in our lives.

On Thursday, communications planet Mercury enters the more structured sign of Capricorn, where it will be for a bit longer than usual given Mercury’s upcoming retrograde in January. This is a good time for thinking about the day to day structure in our lives as we get to make those needed changes next month, after Mercury turns direct again. Our focus becomes more analytical, bringing things down to earth a bit more. Time to turn our focus on practical matters in life!

Friday is our New Moon in Sagittarius. This New Moon is all about beliefs, values, shifts, and challenges. There is a wee bit of a contradiction here with Sagittarius wanting to have its party time and lots of fun, and the New Moon wanting to be introspective. So it’s important that we make room for both under this period. Just remember that the main thing about a New Moon is that it is all about new beginnings that come from a deeper and more spiritual level of our being. The Moon will be Void of Course as we enter the late afternoon. We also have an opposition between Mars and Uranus, where its been noted as a prime time for earthquakes to happen on an inner level in our personal lives, as well as in the world. This could be physical quakes that we see or major disruption happen in situations that are already tense. Adding to this is a trine between Venus and Neptune, bringing a kind of wild peaceful vibe to the mix. In all, Friday is a bit of a mixed bag with some truly odd combo happening.

Our Saturday starts off with the Moon moving into Capricorn, making it a good time for those office/business parties for the season. Its also a good time for tackling those productive tasks that help us get ready for the holidays. The energy of today will also help to smooth out the rough edges that were brought by Friday’s energy. Sunday is quiet one for us that follows the same theme of healing after what may have been a rough couple of days. For those who have clear skies at night, the Geminids meteor shower is happening so get outside for a bit and enjoy the show!
