WEEK AHEAD – Monday, January 26th through Sunday, February 1st

  • Posted on January 25, 2015 at 11:18 am

Here we are in the final week of January, edging closer and closer towards springtime! While we still have Mercury retrograde causing a ruckus in our lives right now, this last week of January seems to bring a bit of a lighter energy for us. We’ve had our Aries Moon influencing the weekend and bringing some restless energy our way. Let’s take a look at what the rest of this week brings us.

Monday starts off with a Taurus Moon, a much more different energy than what Aries brought us over the weekend. Taurus likes the sensual, that which brings comfort and a feeling of stability. It’s a good time for practicing a craft or hobby, for trying things that tantalize the senses, and for rolling up our sleeves and tackling practical chores and projects.

Tuesday is when the planet of love and money, Venus, moves into Pisces, a very visionary and romantic combo. Venus is quite comfy in Pisces and tends not to see the world in black and white. She will be here until mid-February and this will be a time where our creativity, sense of compassion, and feelings of harmony are all affected by the energy of Venus moving through Pisces. It’s a really great energy for those who are artists, writers, musicians, or anyone who deals in the art of imagination. Creative inspiration abounds and even those who are not normally inclined to appreciating the arts will find their appreciation heightened now. Our sensual enjoyments also increase now and our relationships are largely influenced by this Venus/Pisces energy. We feel encouraged to be more open to romance and life seems to run magically smoother. We feel at one with the universe. Keep in mind that, while it can be fun to really get into, and enjoy a fantasy world, we need to make sure we don’t get ourselves lost in the illusion.

Wednesday brings the Moon into the sign of the twins where our basic instinct is to communicate, think, and share ideas. We are motivated by a desire for variety and by an instinctive curiosity. The Moon in Gemini is light-hearted, breezy, and curious, but it can also be restless and fickle. It’s a good energy for trying new things, experimenting, even making some tweaks to your own personal style. We also have Mercury retrograde in a sextile with Uranus where our thoughts are inventive, original, and we may secretly enjoy shocking those around us with some of our more outrageous opinions and insights. It’s all in good fun though! This is a time when we enjoy making connections, especially with people who bring something different and unique to the table. We want to stay busy and be on the move. Any plans that revolve around creating something new and fresh gives us that motivation and excitement we need to create the time and space for them. It’s a good day for stimulating the mind with new and interesting things.

Thursday brings a very quiet day in the skies but Friday brings us to the midpoint of Mercury’s retrograde cycle. The second part of Mercury’s retrograde is when we start to make some loose plans for the future. It’s alright for us to start some new projects now but we do need to stay flexible at this time because plans can still shift with Mercury still retrograde. It’s a good time for behind the scenes planning. Venus is square Saturn on Friday as well, where there may be difficulties relating to others under this influence. People may appear cool with their affections and emotionally distant. You could be feeling unappreciated, unloved, or unwanted. Avoid new financial undertakings, as they may prove to be “money pits” as time passes. There may be anxiety or troubles with regards to matters concerned with the feelings. Romantic disappointments, unrequited love, separations, and broken engagements are the more negative manifestations. The best way to cope is to try not to read too much into situations, particularly social and romantic circumstances. This transit is best used for reflection. Add to this a sextile between Mars and Pluto which can be a time of intense and powerful energy. It can be especially so if you focus your intention to tap into and use this energy deliberately, although if you are triggered into a reaction you might find it is more forceful than you intended. This can be a good time to make changes that have far-reaching, transformative effects. Lastly we have a conjunction between the Sun and Mercury where we enter a new beginning in the areas of communication, awareness, the exchanging of ideas, and the use of new information coming in. Our mental concentration may either take a dive into murky depths, or rise above the murkiness into a clear and more lucid awareness. Of course with Mercury retrograde we will end up returning to that retrograde fog that mercury brings now.

Saturday starts the weekend off with a Cancer Moon, where we feel more like staying at home or sharing time with loved ones. We also have Mars in a conjunction with Chiron which can bring a great deal of potential for both healing and harm under this transit. Mars brings a forcefulness that can be as sharp as a scalpel whose aim is to heal by cutting through resistance, denial, lethargy and pain. However, it can also cause damage when not used with care. The healing part of this transit’s energy can bring some relief to chronic or persistent issues. However, if inflicted with anger, hostility or insensitivity it could just aggravate those problems.

Sunday is the first day of February and starts off with a conjunction between Venus and Neptune which brings dreamy desire and romance as well as deceptive manipulation and negotiations that are self-serving. The positive side of this transit is that it can inspire a lot of creativity as well as healing faith in the areas of abundance and love. During this time, if you find yourself considering any major changes that involve tapping into resources, income, and investments, it would be a good idea to do a reality check with someone who you trust. In love, if you are talking about making changes to an existing relationship or getting ready to start a new one, make sure you take the time to step back and take a look at the long term aspects so that we can differentiate between our hopes colouring our thinking and the reality of gaining what we hope for. Again, a reality check with someone who truly trust is the best action to take at these times.

Mercury goes Retrograde in Aquarius

MercuryRetro

Oh yes! It’s that fun time again when Mercury wreaks havoc on plans, machinery, communication, electronics, and travel. Mercury will be retrograde for a little over 3 weeks. For nearly a week before and a week after today, Mercury is moving at it’s slowest, nearly stopped. So we may experience feelings of frustration, miscommunication, intensity, confusion, or just feeling like we are bogged down in general about our own progress.

Mercury is good for something though! It’s a great time for reflection, rethinking, rehashing, and getting those loose ends tied up before we start anything new. When we hit the later part of the retrograde cycle we may gain new insights and info that we may not have anticipated. This is why it’s always good to have a back up plan and be flexible during a Mercury retrograde cycle. And it is best not to make any finalized plans or permanent decisions now because things can unexpectedly change the goal posts during a Mercury retrograde cycle.

The messenger planet starts its backwards motion in Aquarius today where we feel a hunger for knowledge and our minds are more open to original thinking and new ideas. We are more able to think outside of the box and can be more objective now. This makes it the perfect time for anything that needs an analytical or scifi/techy approach.

We may also find that we are able to see old and familiar situations in a totally different light, allowing us to have a fresher perspective on things. Our thought and communication patterns become spontaneous, as well as somewhat fragmented. Our focus tends to be on society, the economy and working and functioning as a group. It’s a time where quirky meets erratic, liberation meets anarchy, and desire meets possibility so keep an eye on what is developing regarding the economy and social situations around the world. This could be the start of some changes that will set the tone for the next few months.

The downside to this transit is that it isn’t very supportive in situations where we need to take a more sensitive or gentle approach where personal interactions are concerned. We are more tempted to just say what needs to be said and let the chips fall where they will. Sometimes that can be a good thing too though.

With our outlook turned to future possibilities we can use this time to map out future plans and test the waters of new ideas. We are more open minded now, even to things that we may have dismissed in the past.

Many of us have already been suffering from “cabin fever” but this transit turns it up a notch, meaning more of us will want to break out of the bonds holding us back. Get out of the house when you feel a need too and take steps to break out of old routines where necessary.

WEEK AHEAD – Monday, January 19th through Sunday, January 25th

  • Posted on January 18, 2015 at 12:51 pm

Happy Sunday everyone! It’s been quite the chilly and turbulent week for us so far, between crazy weather in the UK to even crazier happenings in the world. Not too long ago I wrote about these conflictive and turbulent (sometimes explosive) energies that want change. And it seems that we are still moving towards the head of changes both in our personal lives and globally. We are also in the last half of January already. I don’t know about you but I am ready for springtime! Let’s see what the week has in store for us now.

We have the Capricorn Moon energy with us at the start of the week, so the focus will be on work and getting things done. Monday also brings us an opposition between Venus and Jupiter which means that this is a time where we need to steer clear of any addictive bad habits. We can more easily focus on our ambitions during these energies though.

Tuesday brings us an Aquarius New Moon, and because it starts out in 1 degree Aquarius it is viewed as a double dose of energy for new beginnings. Aquarius is linked to friends, organizations, groups, innovations and inventions, computers and the internet. It’s an energy that supports any project that requires endurance. We do need to make sure that we remain flexible and open minded though. The Sun will be joining the Moon in Aquarius where mental agility and socializing are the keywords. This transit is a time for abandoning tradition and forging new techniques and perhaps new paradigms. We get all get the opportunity to explore our individuality and our rebellious side. We are more drawn to step beyond the status quo and explore our individual uniqueness. Mars will be in a conjunction with Neptune, both in Pisces now, where things tend to get a wee bit strange. Experiencing things such as lethargic confusion or uplifting inspiration, or even a swing between both is likely now. This can bring on a very creative and spiritual time too. Let’s add to this the alignment between the karmic South Node and freedom loving Uranus, an energy that has been slowly building up over the past few months. This addition with the New Moon can help us to detach ourselves form things that have already ended, allowing us to be more open minded to higher ideals. This is definitely a time for meeting new people and thinking outside of the box. Possibilities can seem endless if we have the courage to explore!

Wednesday is the day the Mercury starts its retrograde cycle until February 21st. It’s a time for rethinking our priorities and we need to make sure we keep those lines of communication open. Mercury tends to wreak havoc on plans, machinery, communication, electronics, and travel. Mercury will be retrograde for a little over 3 weeks. For nearly a week before and a week after today, Mercury is moving at its slowest, nearly stopped. So we may experience feelings of frustration, miscommunication, intensity, confusion, or just feeling like we are bogged down in general about our own progress.

On Thursday the Moon moves into that gentler sign of Pisces which can help us to relax and wind down for the weekend ahead. We are more focused on our comfort zone and doing things with people that bring that sense of comfort. Enjoy it now before the tone changes this weekend with that Aries Moon!

Friday brings us a sextile between the Sun and Saturn. Under the vibes of this transit we are more able to effectively take care of loose ends and attend to small details, especially the ones we dislike. We find a sense of satisfaction in following directions and playing by the rules. And because of this we have a better chance of tackling any serious issues in our lives and complete tasks that we have put off for some time. Commitments that we make now are more apt to last because of a more serious attitude and willingness to take on responsibilities. It’s a good time to prove to others that you can be dependable when it counts. Focusing on practical matters and getting organized are good things to focus on now, especially if you are laying the foundation for something positive to grow.

The weekend brings us an Aries Moon that brings out the restlessness in us. We want to be moving, doing something, and some may actually feel this shift from Pisces into Aries more than others. It can bring emotional vitality and the drive to act on our feelings. Many also feel restless during an Aries Moon, finding it hard to settle at night, being unable to sleep, or feeling like we can’t just sit for too long. Excess energy is best channelled into physical activity, so get up and move, go dancing, go to the gym, or do something creative that helps you burn that extra energy off!

WEEK AHEAD – Monday, January 12th through Sunday, January 18th

  • Posted on January 11, 2015 at 11:37 am

Happy Sunday everyone! It’s been a blustery and cold few days for us here in the UK. I hope you are all staying safe. If you remember, in one of my updates, I mentioned this increasing tense energy where we would see incidents of people fighting back for what they believe and tense situations/stand-offs coming to a head. We are seeing this in what is happening in France right now as many rise up against the terrorist attacks that occurred this week. It’s something to keep watch on as things move forward. Let’s have a look at what the planets have in store for us for the upcoming week.

Our week starts off with the energies of the Libra Moon, which starts mid-morning on Sunday. It’s a good energy that can help us to balance out those wilder energies we experienced from last week’s Full Moon. Mars will enter Pisces on Monday where it will remain until mid-February. The blend of the Moon and Mars energies can work in two ways; it will either draw out our spiritual warrior side or it will have us feeling confused about what action is the right one to take. Keep in mind that at this time our goals and views are still in a state of change. Be open to embracing change as we experience the unknown coming into our lives.

Tuesday brings us a morning Void of Course Moon that will then move into Scorpio just before midnight. A Scorpio Moon tends to be deep and intense. This energy will help us with all of those changes we have been experiencing. It brings a chance for healing as we destroy the roots of a disturbance in our life. We also have Venus in a sextile with Uranus which brings a reckless kind of energy that can be unpredictable in the social aspects of our lives. We want to break away from our routines now and interact with those who are interesting and different. But we also need to be cautious of that reckless energy that could push us to do something we may regret later while we try to ease our boredom now.

Wednesday brings a sextile between Mercury and Uranus where our thoughts are inventive, original, and we may secretly enjoy shocking those around us with some of our more outrageous opinions and insights. It’s all in good fun though! This is a time when we enjoy making connections, especially with people who bring something different and unique to the table. It blends well with the energy that the Venus/Uranus sextile has brought in. We tend to want to keep ourselves busy at this time and are really drawn to creating something new and fresh that can give us that motivation and excitement we need to create the time and space for them. It’s a good day for stimulating the mind with new and interesting things.

Thursday brings a challenging aspects between aggressive Mars and restrictive Saturn. Many may just feel tired under this transits influence and it’s important to not try to force any situations that just can’t be forced. When action planet Mars meets serious Saturn, it brings a time when we face obstacles, blockages, or opposition to our sense of freedom, our drive, and our ambitions. Excessive or wasteful endeavours and personality traits may need to be tempered now, and we may become more cautious or feel a temporary loss of enthusiasm, or even face setbacks that make us doubt our ability to win in life. It creates a sense of friction that can cause us to feel frustrated, conflicted, stressed out, and argumentative. It’s hard to feel upbeat and positive when our efforts seem to be thwarted or blocked at every turn and this is where we tend to feel the most drain on our energies. We become a bit more sensitive towards anyone or anything that seems to be not cooperating with us, especially authority figures. So try to take it easy during this transit.

As we wrap up the work week on Friday the Moon will be moving into the more upbeat sign of Sagittarius, where fun and adventure is supported just in time for the weekend. We have a late night Void of Course Moon on Saturday before it moves into Capricorn around noon on Sunday. We tend to want to feel productive under Capricorn’s energy so may want to focus on a project or getting things ready for the week ahead. It’s a good time for taking charge of any situations we feel are needing some control, or making plans with others on a group goal.

Full Moon in Cancer

  • Posted on January 5, 2015 at 12:00 pm

FullMoonCancer

Early this morning the Moon entered its Full lunation. I had touched on this in the weekly update but in case you missed that, I was explaining how this Full Moon looks to be a complicated one where we seem to have action pulling in different directions, all of which want our attention. We have that Capricorn energy with the Sun that wants our life to feel secure and steady. The Cancer Full Moon is pulling towards nurturing and a desire to feel safe amongst loved ones. So right here we have a conflict between wanting what brings us comfort, like comfort food, and being reminded that we need to have some discipline. Then we throw that wild card, Uranus into the mix. Uranus tends to bring disruption into our lives that kind of forces us to look at our world in a very different light. Uranus wants us to strike out on a new path, create, invent, and meet new people! So here we are presented with this struggle between honouring our roots while trekking into some new territory. So here we are, us mere mortals, being pulled between extremes.

That Capricorn New Moon that we had at the Winter Solstice was all about getting our vision prepped and planning the way ahead. This Cancer Full Moon is about discovering what it will actually take to put those resources of ours, along with our support system, in place to make this journey work out for us. The path may not be an easy one for us but it will most definitely be a transformative one!

This Cancer Full Moon is also considered to be a “powerhouse” due to some aspects happening along with it. For a start, the Moon is directly snapped into place in the Cardinal Cross, aligning in a Grand square in Cardinal signs. The Sun is in that conjunction with Pluto in Capricorn, which is just opposite our Cancer Moon. Uranus is also in a conjunction with the South Node in Aries, just opposite the Libra North Node. The Nodes, while not really a source of energy, tend to amplify, focus, bend and aim energy.

Uranus is an interesting player here because it represents chaos, the unexpected, change, and the road less travelled. It brings a shake-up that usually results in us not being able to put things back together as they were. So we are forced to find a new way ahead where the familiar becomes not so familiar and our desires that were…well they may seem less desirable now. This is the time for sweeping away the old structure of our assumptions and expectations. Now, the South Node that Uranus is having its little dance with brings us this need to let go of the old and outworn way of doing things in our lives. Pay attention to those things that keep reoccurring that need taking care of once and for all.

What does this all mean for our Full Moon? Well, the Full Moon is also a time for letting go, releasing and the changes we make under its influence tend to have more “pow” to them. We just need to be careful that our intentions are positive ones. The Cancer Moon wants us to retreat, to go within right now. This can be helpful in situations where we need to rethink our plans or get back in touch with what we truly want and what our vision is. Just be careful that you don’t let that need for comfort and safety stop you from making necessary changes because they are unfamiliar right now.

WEEK AHEAD – Monday, January 5th through Sunday, January 11th

  • Posted on January 4, 2015 at 3:30 pm

Happy Sunday everyone! We’re only 4 days into the New Year and many of us have been recuperating and organizing in order to get ready for the first full week of January 2015. Today sees Mercury entering Aquarius where it will be for nearly 9 weeks due to its upcoming retrograde cycle. Other planetary energies at play make Sunday a lazy, dreamy day where we may not feel like getting much done. This will change however, as the Moon begins its move into its Full lunation in the wee hours of Monday. Let’s have a look at what else this week has in store for us.

Monday brings us a complicated Full Moon where we seem to have action pulling in different directions, all of which want our attention.

Fear not! This energy won’t last forever and it can be a good thing in some instances. We have a new energy that will be moving in that wants us to break apart those old patterns and build something new. So this “chaotic” Full moon energy can help with that. We get some helpful stabilizing energy with a Mercury/Saturn sextile. We also have a square between the Sun and the North Node at the start of the week which can also bring us feelings of conflict between our sense of identity and purpose with the lessons we are needing to learn in our lives. It can manifest through situations where we feel we are being forced off course or forced to take a detour that is not as direct as our chosen road. That tends to make people feel uncomfortable but there is usually more to those detours than we realize. If we were to stop panicking over the detour and take some time to really look beneath the surface (whether presently or in retrospect) we will probably discover that this detour is actually assisting our sense of Self. It can bring benefits our way that we would have otherwise passed up or missed had we not taken that detour.

Mid-Week:
Tuesday brings the Moon into Leo where we have a cheery, flirty and inspirational vibe to work with. Let your inner child out to play today and have a bit of fun. Wednesday is a quiet day in the skies for us and can be a good day to share with friends. Thursday brings the Moon into practical Virgo where we are more drawn towards keeping life simple. It can help us get those little tasks that need doing out of the way before the weekend hits.

Weekend:
Saturday is another quiet one and still under the influence of that practical Virgo Moon before moving into the balancing sign of Libra come Sunday. So we may feel drawn to getting out homes in order this weekend with this blend of practical and balancing energy to play with. Creating order is also the focus, not necessarily through tidying or organizing as was the case while the Moon was in Virgo, but rather through pleasing interactions with others and aesthetics in our environment. It’s a problem solving energy that craves peace and balance.
